A specialty electric motor manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Engineer to lead the in-house development and production of sealed insulation systems for Navy-grade motors. In this critical role, you will be responsible for establishing, certifying, and optimizing the manufacturing processes required to produce highly durable, water-resistant motor windings that meet stringent military standards. This is a unique opportunity to build a key capability from the ground up and directly impact the company’s ability to serve military customers.
Position Offers

Responsibilities
Develop and implement an in-house process for sealed insulation system application on motor windings to meet Navy (mil-spec) requirements.
Lead the selection, installation, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment needed for winding insulation and sealing.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to define and document manufacturing procedures, process controls, and certification requirements.
Work with suppliers to source materials (resins, tapes, coatings) and validate their performance for water immersion and durability standards.
Ensure all processes meet military standards and testing requirements, including water ingress testing and insulation resistance testing.
Coordinate with third-party certifiers and government agencies to obtain necessary process certifications.
Train production personnel on new processes, machinery operation, and quality protocols.
Continuously monitor and improve manufacturing efficiency, cost, and quality for the sealed insulation operation.
Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions to ensure consistent product quality.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in manufacturing process development, preferably involving insulation systems, coatings, adhesives, or electrical windings.
Strong understanding of sealing technologies, resin application, and insulation techniques for electric motors.
Experience with military (mil-spec) standards and certification processes is highly desirable.
Hands-on experience with setting up production equipment, process documentation, and quality control systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional initiatives.
