    Job Description:

    Our client is a private technology company that designs, develops and operates space camera systems and currently seeking a Senior Accountant to become a part of the innovative team. Under the general direction of the Controller and with latitude for independent judgment, the Senior Accountant performs accounting support and leadership with a variety of responsibilities and duties. In addition, this individual will back up and support the overall daily functions of the Accounting Department.

     

    Essential Functions:

    Prepare Revenue Recognition calculations of fixed-price contracts.

    Supervises Staff Accountant and Accounting Assistant.

    Reviews and approves journal entries and reconciliations prepared by the Staff Accountant and Accounting Assistant, including fixed assets, depreciation, deferred rent benefit, prepaid expenses, overhead allocation and sales and use tax.

    Oversees inventory transactions, cycle counts and work-in-process.

    Reconciles revenue and related general ledger accounts.

    Supports the Controller by preparing schedules for annual audits.

    Sets-up new projects in the Visual system and distributes updated contracts list.

    Performs other duties as required.

     

    Non-Essential Functions:

    Responsible for additional support completing purchase orders and monthly journal entries as needed.

    Moves about the office conducting monthly and annual inventory cycle counts in support of the Staff Accountant duties.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

    Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

    A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience.

    Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills (pivot tables and v-lookup a must).

    Prior experience with government contracting and/or manufacturing.

    Excellent communication and leadership skills.

    Must have high attention to detail, assertive, goal-oriented, flexible and organized.

     

    Preferred Skills:

    CPA license preferred.

    Knowledge and experience with Excel Power Query.

    Experience working with electronics inventory.

    Financial audit experience.

     

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position operating a computer for prolonged periods of time, while handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
    • Must be able to communicate clearly with a variety of people on a daily basis.
    • Must be able to comprehend and communicate basic financial concepts, and company and department policies and procedures.
    • Occasionally moves about the office to conduct inventory, access file cabinets and office equipment. Ability to handle stressful deadlines from time to time.
