About the Position
Be the welcoming face of Mt. Cuba Center as a Seasonal Guest Experience Assistant. In this role, you'll create remarkable experiences for our visitors while managing ticket sales, program registrations, memberships, and merchandise. As the primary point of contact for guests, you'll share your enthusiasm for Mt. Cuba's mission while ensuring smooth operations and exceptional customer service.
Essential Functions
- Create welcoming first impressions through friendly, enthusiastic guest interactions
- Process sales accurately for:
- Admission tickets
- Program and class registrations
- Memberships
- Gift shop merchandise
- Manage the guest arrival process, maintaining accurate attendance counts
- Answer visitor questions about Mt. Cuba Center's gardens, programs, and offerings
- Handle incoming phone calls and general email inquiries
- Maintain attractive merchandise and informational displays
- Support departmental projects to enhance operations and guest experience
- Execute accurate cash handling procedures
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year of customer service experience
- Ability to obtain Delaware Alcoholic Beverage Server Certification within 30 days of hire
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong math skills with attention to detail
- Excellence in interpersonal communication and customer service
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn new software systems
- Professional and positive attitude
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Comfortable walking extensively on varied terrain, including hills
- Regular computer use including keyboard and standard office equipment
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
Schedule and Compensation
- Seasonal position limited to 1,000 hours per year (averaging 20-25 hours per week)
- Schedule includes Tuesday – Sunday (2-3 shifts per week)
- Various shift times including:
- 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM
- 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM
- Weekend, evening, and early morning availability required
- Hourly rate: $17.00 per hour
