Private family is seeking a polished, service-oriented Seasonal Houseman / Cook to support their Southampton residence throughout the summer season. This hybrid role presents an excellent opportunity for a versatile hospitality professional to provide culinary, service, and general household support within an elevated private environment.
This is a full-time seasonal position running approximately mid-June through Labor Day, with a schedule primarily Thursday through Sunday. Typical working hours will fall between 12:00pm and 8:00pm, with flexibility required based on household needs.
The ideal candidate will be highly adaptable, proactive, and discreet, with a strong understanding of UHNW household standards. This individual will bring a hands-on, “no task too big or too small” mentality, supporting both daily operations and light entertaining with ease. The role requires a thoughtful balance of simple, health-conscious cooking, polished guest service, and general houseman responsibilities, all executed with professionalism and attention to detail. This is a position with potential for recurring seasonal engagement or expanded long-term opportunities for the right candidate.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Prepare simple, healthy, elevated meals approximately 4 days per week
- Assist with light meal planning and pre-prep for future use
- Execute casual, high-quality dishes including grilled items, salads, and light entertaining fare
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and efficiency within the kitchen; avoid overstocking and clutter
- Assist with light hosting duties including beverage service (cocktails, margaritas, etc.)
- Provide polished yet approachable front-of-house service for principals and guests
- Assist with casual entertaining including serving drinks and small bites
- Set up and maintain outdoor entertaining areas including terrace and pool spaces
- Ensure all guest-facing areas are consistently maintained to a high standard
- Maintain outdoor spaces including pool areas, cushions, lanterns, and general readiness
- Assist housekeeping staff as needed to ensure seamless household operations
- Run errands including grocery shopping, household provisioning, and vehicle maintenance (fuel, etc.)
- Support general day-to-day household needs with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
- Assist with expanded provisioning and household support as needs evolve
- Potential involvement in future responsibilities such as pet care
Requirements:
- Strong command of English language; outstanding writing and verbal skills
- Excellent references from both current and former employers
- Prior experience in a private household or hospitality-driven environment strongly preferred
- Solid cooking skills with the ability to prepare fresh, simple, and health-conscious meals
- Comfortable with grilling, food prep, and casual entertaining execution
- Basic bartending and service skills
- Strong understanding of discretion, confidentiality, and UHNW household expectations
- Professional demeanor with polished presentation and strong interpersonal skills
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with a “can-do” approach
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Ability to anticipate needs and take initiative (“see something, do something”)
- Flexible schedule with willingness to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed
- Valid driver’s license and ability to run errands as required
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Compensation: $40–$50/hour, with potential for an end-of-season discretionary bonus
