Position Summary:

The Jockey's Room Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and professional environment in the jockeys’ room at Wyoming Downs Racing. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that jockeys have a well-maintained space to prepare for races, in compliance with all track regulations and standards. The Jockeys’ Room Custodian works closely with the Clerk of Scales to uphold cleanliness, order, and professionalism within the facility.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure the jockeys’ room is clean, orderly, and properly maintained at all times.
• Maintain cleanliness in all areas, including lockers, showers, restrooms, and common spaces.
• Organize and store jockeys’ equipment and ensure designated areas are tidy.
• Assist with laundry services, including cleaning silks, towels, and other jockey gear as needed.
• Ensure jockeys have necessary supplies such as towels, soap, and other hygiene items.
• Report any facility maintenance issues to the Clerk of Scales promptly.
• Assist in enforcing rules regarding conduct and cleanliness within the jockeys’ room.
• Ensure that all areas of the jockeys’ room meet health and safety standards.
• Work efficiently to maintain a professional atmosphere in the jockeys’ quarters during race days.

Qualities, Education and Experience:

** Required :**

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience in custodial or facility maintenance
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness and organization

** Preferred :**

• Prior experience in custodial or facility maintenance
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality within the jockeys' room
• Experience working with regulatory or controlled access environments

Licensing Status

• Must be able to obtain and maintain all required licenses or credentials from the Wyoming Gaming Commission or other applicable regulatory authorities.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed primarily at the stable gate and barn entrance areas of the racetrack facility.
• Requires standing, walking, and monitoring gate activity for extended periods.
• Work is conducted outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions.
• Interaction with horses, trainers, haulers, and racing personnel is frequent.
• Schedule includes early mornings during training hours and race days, as well as evenings, weekends, and holidays during the racing season.
• High level of vigilance required to ensure security and regulatory compliance in a busy racing environment.
