A lovely NY based family is seeking an energetic, positive, and hands-on Seasonal Watersports Specialist/Houseman to help manage all marine and water-based recreational activities as well as assist the team with overall maintenance of their Hamptons property. This is a seasonal, full-time role which spans from June through September and includes weekends (5-day flex schedule). This role combines property support along with managing the family’s water-based recreational activities. Responsibilities include coordination, supervision, and instruction of all watersports, assisting with the general upkeep of the home and grounds—including pools, tennis courts, garage, and entertainment areas, as well as setting up for events, performing light repairs, and maintaining vehicles, sports gear, and watercraft. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of various water sports, exceptional safety awareness, and a dedicated, reliable work ethic. They will be an enthusiastic team player who can take direction from the on-site Property Manager, work well alongside other household staff, and handle a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with professionalism and discretion. Must be service-oriented with a positive attitude and interface well with vendors and guests alike.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Take direction from the Property Manager and other staff members for interior and exterior tasks and projects
- Help to plan, coordinate, and supervise daily water sports activities
- Assist team on instruction and some watersport coaching to family members and guests of varying skill levels
- Ensure the safety and readiness of all equipment, including regular inspection, maintenance, and inventory
- Maintain all sports and game equipment and turfs, arranging all equipment for year-round activities
- Help to organize and maintain structures (garages, pool house, and storage areas, etc.)
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on property and equipment (change lightbulbs, tighten screws)
- Assist with interior work as needed
- Clean, refuel, and transport vehicles for maintenance
- Notify senior team members of anything that needs fixing or particular attention
- Help transport principals, family, guests, and/or staff in and around Hamptons
- Run errands as needed
- Pay close attention to weather conditions so that proper steps can be taken to protect outdoor furniture and surfaces
- Set up sitting area on beach and keeping beach area clean as needed
- Interact with the children and assist nannies if needed
- Assist with set up, breakdown and execution of parties/events (i.e., serving, bartending)
- Additional Houseman responsibilities and needed and requested by principals and senior team
Requirements:
- Strong command of the English language; exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent references required from both current and previous employers
- Experience with watercraft and water sports equipment (i.e., surfing, wake boarding, kite surfing, sailing, etc.)
- Boating experience not required but a plus
- Must be comfortable taking direction as well as working collaboratively as a team
- Flexibility with scheduling; ability to work both overtime and weekends
- Self-starter mentality with high productivity level and an eye for detail and organization
- Collaborative and flexible in nature with the capacity to shift from one task to another easily and with little notice when needed
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in both Mac & PC operating systems, as well as like technology
- Must be able to lift 50 or more pounds, and stand for long periods of time
- Well adept in operating home security and electronics systems
- Valid Driver’s License; confident driver with zero points
- Valid Passport; willing and able to travel both domestic and internationally as needed to provide seamless care
- Able to legally work within the United States for any employer
