    SUMMARY:

    The Manager, Labor Relations, will serve as a critical subject matter expert in areas of labor contract administration, advice and counseling, grievance management, and labor arbitrations. The Manager, Labor Relations works closely with the Labor Relations team, HR Business Partners, other HR Centers of Excellence, as well as a wide range of operations leaders covering over all union-represented employees and over 25 collective bargaining agreements.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

    • Provide advice and counsel on issues and disputes arising under the grievance and dispute resolution processes of collectively bargained agreements. Provides advice and counsel on other matters as assigned, such as collective bargaining and other traditional labor matters.
    • Assess legal and other risks to the Company, and devise appropriate measures to avoid or reduce those risks while furthering the successful execution of the Company's strategies and goals.
    • Assist with the development and management of policies and procedures regarding labor issues.
    • Independently handle and manage all arbitration files, from selection of arbitrator, through case preparation, presentation at hearing, and brief writing (and/or drafting and execution of settlement agreements), through conclusion of the file.
    • Develop forward-looking strategies for the efficient administration of the grievance and arbitration process.
    • Maintain timely and accurate corporate reporting mechanisms for areas of responsibility.
    • Ability to identify, influence, and lead dispute resolution opportunities.
    • Maintain productive working relationships with union leadership and advocates.
    • Develops positive business relationships with the Union(s) and key executive stakeholders through ensuring that Labor relations issues are addressed in a comprehensive and collaborative manner
    • Collaborates with Corporate Employment Law Advisors, HR Business Partners, and HR Shared Services teams in order to identify and develop solutions around labor relations issues
    • Serves as an escalation point for complex labor relations issues and investigations by utilizing strong negotiation, conflict resolution, mediation skills, and experience
    • Partners with HR leadership and the legal team to represent IAP in charge investigations and/or litigation cases
    • Develops and monitors metrics/tracking mechanisms that measure results, efficiency, and cost effectiveness, while ensuring employee disputes and complaints are handled in a timely and appropriate manner
    • Provides guidance to leadership, as needed, for difficult or actionable grievances filed by employees

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: (or equivalent)

    BACHELOR DEGREE OR EQUIVALENT WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE WITH 8 – 10 YEARS AS LABOR RELATIONS EXPERIENCE – 5 YEARS IN SUPERVISORY ROLE PREFERABLE IN LABOR RELATIONS ARENA
