  • Responsibilities

    The Security Guard position performs activities relating to the protection, safeguarding and security of company assets, employees, visitors, customers and others; implements and monitors security policies, procedures and programs; complies with federal, state and local legal regulations; and exercises independent judgment in the course of carrying out overall responsibilities and other activities as assigned.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Prepares and maintains logs and documents daily events for management review.
    • Monitors and controls physical protection systems such as video surveillance, electronic access control and intrusion detection platforms.
    • Receives, assesses and responds to alarms occurring onsite and offsite including dispatching other security personnel and law enforcement to alarm locations.
    • Performs foot patrols of premises to observe and report safety- and security-related hazards.
    • Follows procedures to accomplish activities and functions relative to security.
    • Meets and greets visitors, vendors, contractors and customers.
    • Performs visitor management tasks such as badge issuance, visitor log maintenance, and assigning hosts and escorts.
    • Completes security-related requests such as issuing property passes and inspecting lockers.
    • Performs escorts of personnel within restricted areas.
    • Maintains lock and key control including issuing keys and replacing damaged locks.
    • Maintains and requests supplies and equipment as needed.
    • Adheres to and maintains loss prevention programs.
    • Assists with internal investigations of any losses or violations of regulations, policies and procedures.
    • Adheres to and maintains emergency management and contingency plans including first aid response.
    • Performs other activities as assigned including administrative work such as filing and updating records.
    • Utilizes training and knowledge of established policies, procedures and practices to perform duties and responsibilities.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    This job operates in a clerical office, retail and manufacturing environment, as well as periodical rounds throughout the corporation's grounds and premises. This role also routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

    This is a full-time and part-time position, with typical work hours and days varying. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.

    TRAVEL

    Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    2 years' experience performing security guard responsibilities or highly responsible work relating to tasks assigned to this position, or any combination of education and experience provided the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.

    Possession of a valid motor vehicle license and willingness to operate motor vehicles in the course of employment.

    Any professionally recognized certifications in the security related field.
