    Community Food Partner Intern Second Harvest Heartland 12 reviews - Maplewood, MN Internship POSITION SUMMARY: The Community Food Partner Intern will be integral in capacity building efforts with partner agencies (typically local food shelves & emergency meal programs) in the territory specified. Capacity building activities supported by the Intern may focus on either 1) development of specific resources (e.g., a collection of best practices around a specific area) or 2) creation of opportunities for networking among partner agencies, or both. The goal of capacity building in partner agencies is to increase their ability to meet the emergency food needs within their community. DUTIES MAY INCLUDE: * Develop a document or presentation that provides support to partner agencies regarding best practices. Topics could include: client access best practices, outreach/marketing materials, 170e3 tax code 101 handbook, video or webinar instruction guides, food safety, fundraising toolkit, updating existing partner agency resources, etc. * Lead the planning, implementation and follow-up for an Agency Networking Event, specific to the location and needs in the territory. * Support the Agency Relations Account Specialist/Team on additional capacity building activities for partner agencies, time permitting. Specific to the Fresh Produce Distribution Partnership (FPDP): * Data collection & evaluation o Develop & administer post-season surveys of Agency Partners o Send reminders for agencies to report volunteer statistics after each distribution and service statistics at the end of the month; track submission o Administer volunteer survey; collect responses o Create final report presentation for 2018 season * FPDP Support to internal SHH departments (Agency Relations, Volunteer Services, Development, Communications) as assigned LEARNING OBJECTIVES: * Define the various types of emergency and non-emergency food programs as well as how they work together in the emergency food system to ensure that hunger needs are addressed. * Define expectations and standards around food donations and hunger relief, including but not limited to food safety, availability (i.e., distributed free of charge), and civil rights. * Identify Partner Agency needs and challenges with a focus on problem-solving and opportunities to support positive change that will impact families/individuals in need. * Create tailored solutions to specific challenges through research, data analysis and solicitation of feedback from a variety of sources. * Develop skills in project planning and event planning to engage partner agencies and achieve results. * Develop and/or improve communication skills. 7/12/2018 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: * 2 years of post-secondary higher education or equivalent experience * Some prior experience working or volunteering with a community-based organization preferred * Knowledge of and interest in non-profit organizations * Strong verbal and written communication skills TIME REQUIREMENTS AND SCHEDULE: * Total time requirement: 10-20 hrs/week for approximately 12 weeks * Project dates: 9/17/18 - 12/14/18 approximately; possibility for extension * Days of the week: flexible, must include Monday-Friday; occasional Saturdays * Time of the day: flexible, must be available some of the time between 8am and 4:30pm * Work site: remote/from home office ORGANIZATION CONTACTS: * Agency Relations Account Specialist(s) * Agency Relations Manager * Agency Service Representatives * Partner Agency contacts TBD at start of Internship HOW TO APPLY: Please submit cover letter, resume, and 2 references to Internships@2harvest.org 7/12/2018 4 hours ago - save job
