    Head of Mortgage Compliance

    We are looking for a world-class Head of Mortgage Compliance to join our team. We are a high-growth, consumer-focused digital company – you won’t be bored in this collaborative, fast-moving, high-visibility role.

    You’ll be responsible for ensuring that we meet or exceed state and federal regulatory expectations for mortgage lending across 50 states and DC. You’ll develop policies, procedures, training, controls, and reporting and continuously collaborate with teammates across the company to ensure that we consistently go beyond regulatory requirements and do the right thing for consumers.


    What you’ll do on a day-to-day basis

    • Serve as the primary day-to-day compliance partner for our marketing and content teams, helping them to quickly execute digital marketing and social media initiatives with appropriate content and disclosures.
    • Quickly and efficiently review all marketing, website, and social media content and diplomatically communicate content concerns and required edits; explain the regulatory basis for the changes, and recommend creative alternatives to any problematic content.
    • Retain all approved materials, as required by regulatory guidelines.
    • Build strong relationships with your teammates across the company, working together to exceed both consumer and regulatory expectations.
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate marketing compliance risks related to marketing, content, and social media initiatives.
    • Maintain and enhance compliance policies, procedures, and reference tools.
    • Provide regular training to the marketing and content teams to ensure ongoing awareness of all compliance requirements.
    • Conduct risk assessments, evaluate and enhance preventive and detective controls, perform compliance monitoring and develop remediation/corrective action plans.
    • Stay on top of changes in the regulatory environment and communicate them to the broader team in a compelling way.
    • Lead or support all other compliance-related projects.

    To succeed in this job, you’ll need

    • Deep experience in managing the review, approval, tracking, and monitoring of marketing and social media collateral and communications for federal and state consumer regulatory issues.
    • At least five years of residential mortgage experience and, ideally, be a licensed Mortgage Loan Officer or lawyer.
    • In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements including, but not limited to Fair Lending (ECOA and Regulation B), Unfair, Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP), Truth-in-Lending (Regulation Z), RESPA (Regulation X), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), CAN-SPAM, SAFE Act, and more.
    • Ability to interpret rules, regulations, and guidelines and apply the interpretation to business processes.
    • Excellent team-building and communication skills.
    • Strong decision-making ability.
    • Can-do, responsive work ethic.
    • Ability to work quickly and with limited supervision in a primarily remote environment.
    • Experience with PerformLine is a plus but not required.
