Position Overview
The Academy Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operational success of the Tact Tech Training Academy. This role oversees all training programs, instructors, compliance requirements, and student services while ensuring the academy delivers the highest standard of professional security, firearms, medical, and specialty training.
The Director acts as the face of the academy, building relationships with law enforcement partners, state licensing agencies, vendors, students, and community organizations. The Director will also manage budgets, enforce policies, and continuously develop innovative programs to maintain the academy’s reputation as a premier training institution.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Provide strategic leadership and direction for all academy programs.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate instructors, administrative staff, and support personnel.
Maintain a professional, disciplined, and positive learning environment.
Ensure alignment with Tact Tech Training Academy’s mission, motto, and growth strategy.
Program Development & Oversight
Oversee design, delivery, and evaluation of training courses, including Florida Class D, G, K, CCW, Active Shooter Response, SRO/Safe Schools Officer, EMT/medical, CPR/BLS, and other specialty programs.
Ensure compliance with Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) and other relevant licensing/certification authorities.
Develop new programs in response to industry needs and client demand.
Continuously review curricula to meet evolving security, safety, and law enforcement standards.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Maintain all academy licensing, instructor certifications, and state-mandated requirements.
Enforce academy policies, procedures, and codes of conduct for staff and students.
Ensure proper documentation of student attendance, grades, certifications, and licensing paperwork.
Oversee safety protocols, firearms/equipment accountability, and facility security.
Operations & Administration
Manage scheduling of classes, instructor assignments, and classroom resources.
Oversee academy budget, tuition collection, vendor contracts, and equipment purchases.
Prepare regular reports for senior management on performance, student enrollment, and compliance.
Coordinate marketing efforts in collaboration with Tact Tech’s leadership team.
Student & Client Relations
Serve as primary point of contact for students, clients, and regulatory agencies.
Provide high-level customer service, ensuring a professional and welcoming student experience.
Handle escalated complaints or disciplinary matters.
Promote the academy through outreach, networking, and partnerships with agencies, HOAs, corporate clients, and the community
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Education, Business Management, or related field (preferred).
Minimum 5 years of supervisory/management experience in security, law enforcement, military, or training environments.
Current Florida Class “K” Firearms Instructor License (preferred, or ability to obtain within 90 days).
Certifications in CPR/BLS, Active Shooter Response, and other related training areas (preferred).
Strong knowledge of FDACS rules, Florida Statutes Chapter 493, and state licensing processes.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Proven ability to manage budgets, staff, and complex training operations.

Working Conditions
Primarily based at the Tact Tech Training Academy headquarters with some travel to training sites or client locations.

Role involves occasional hands-on training supervision, firearms oversight, and emergency response readiness.
