This is for a technician who already knows how to run a job without being babysat. You’ve been in the field long enough to see installs go sideways, and you’re the one who figures it out and keeps the job moving. This team is heavily tenured and built on internal promotions, but they’ve moved multiple senior techs into project management, which created a gap in the field. They need someone who can step in as a reliable, all-around technician across access control, CCTV, fire, and intrusion. Most of the work is in healthcare and large commercial environments across Long Island, with occasional emergency support into NYC.

    What You Get to Do

    • Handle service and troubleshooting across access control, CCTV, fire alarm, and burglar systems
    • Work hands-on with systems like Genetec, Bosch, Identicard, and similar platforms
    • Diagnose issues in the field without stalling the job — keep progress moving even when one piece is blocked
    • Read prints, trace wiring issues (opens, shorts, grounds)
    • Communicate directly with clients onsite and represent the company professionally
    • Complete clear, accurate service documentation that gets sent to customers
    • Support installs and system bring-up, including testing and final verification (done right the first time)
    • Work alongside programmers who handle final system programming and downloads

    What You Have Already Done

    • 4+ years in field experience
    • Hands-on experience across multiple systems: access control, cameras, fire alarm, and intrusion
    • Strong troubleshooting ability — you don’t wait around when something breaks
    • Experience with higher-end or enterprise systems (Notifier, EST, Genetec, Bosch, etc.)
    • Comfortable reading drawings and working through system issues independently
    • Written service reports that were client-facing and didn’t need to be rewritten
    • Worked in environments where testing and verification actually mattered before calling a job “done”
    • Able to communicate clearly with both customers and internal teams

    Why You Would Do It
This is a stable, union-backed role with consistent work, real OT, and projects that aren’t cookie-cutter. You’re stepping into a team that promotes from within and has already moved multiple senior techs up, which is why this opening exists. The expectation is simple: show up, know your trade, solve problems, and don’t need hand-holding. If you’re the kind of technician who takes ownership of your work and wants to be treated like a professional, this is a straightforward place to build long-term stability while working on meaningful, large-scale systems.
