Job Description
The Payroll Specialist will ensure accurate processing and recording of company’s payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information, and participate in data entry Payroll processing. Important to this position is strong communication skills across co-workers, clients and employees.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely (we use Paylocity) for both biweekly and weekly payrolls
Issue off-cycle and alternative pay methods as needed
Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
Execute time and attendance processing and interface with payroll
Review deductions (e.g., benefits) are taken from pay accurately
Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary
Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed
Update and reconcile monthly bank statements
Load import files received
Research and email appropriate audience of file issues
Respond to employee inquiries
Assist with team projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates Degree or higher in a related field
CPP preferred but not required.
2+ years of experience processing multi-state payroll using payroll systems (we use Paylocity)
Working knowledge of payroll best practices.
Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel
Working knowledge of time and attendance software (Kronos a plus)
Strong work ethic and team player
High degree of professionalism
Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
Ability to communicate with various levels of management
Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
