    Job Summary:

    The Software Engineer I role will be responsible for developing information systems by designing, developing, and installing software solutions. Job success will be determined by demonstrating a combination of technical expertise through successful execution and adherence to industry and SelectQuote Application Development team development standards..

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Expand existing software to meet the changing needs of our business lines
    • Design, develop, and implement software components, enhancements, modules, and solutions which meet SelectQuote business needs and expectations with respect to key project/product performance measures
    • Design and develop software solutions directly from business specifications and requirements. Self-sufficiency during development phases is required, using other senior developers or architects to validate and peer review code
    • Adhere to development scope and timelines in accordance to overall project and in line with SelectQuote-provided development tools and processes
    • Create scalable, automated solutions to service our customers and internal development team
    • Lead by example through demonstration of high performance in the areas of customer service, collaboration, team work, reliability, productivity, and execution

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Ability to perform tasks with minimal technical supervision
    • Strong communication skills
    • Strong initiative, innovative thinking skills, and the ability to analyze details and adopt a strategic view
    • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively build relationships, promote a collaborative team environment, and influence other

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or Information Technology preferred
    • 1-2 years of software development or programming experience preferred
    • Understanding of HTML5 and CSS3
    • Understanding of JavaScript and common frameworks and tools, e.g. express, React, npm
    • Understanding of Node.js
    • Understanding of relational databases, MSSQL preferred
    • Understanding of RESTful API Services
    • Understanding of cloud-native development
    • Experience with React preferred
    • Experience with Express preferred
    • Experience with TypeScript preferred
    • Experience with AWS services, e.g. Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, etc., preferred
    • Experience using industry software development methodologies, standards and architectural frameworks
    • Experience with various SDLC methodologies, agile SCRUM preferred
    • Experience with code-based unit testing
    • Experience with code management and release methodologies and tools
