DESCRIPTION/ JOB SUMMARY
Sellers Dorsey is a national leading healthcare consultancy firm focused on Medicaid strategy and Medicaid finance. Sellers Dorsey is seeking a Consultant who will support a portfolio that involves financial and policy initiatives connected to directed payment projects contained within the National Medicaid Finance portfolio. The Consultant provides project management services to project teams and is responsible for direct service delivery and client satisfaction for large, complex, multi-year initiatives. The Consultant supports the Associate Director(s) and Senior Consultant(s). The responsibilities will include setting goals, timelines, and strategies related to projects and problem solving with project leaders. This is a full-time position based in our Firm's Philadelphia, PA office where a hybrid work schedule is available to all employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
General Responsibilities and Expectations
- Consultants are responsible for keeping current on the changing federal regulatory environment, learning state specific regulations to support assigned projects, and staying current on industry trends.
- Consultants are expected to account for hours on a weekly basis. They will be assigned to project teams to service clients and will also spend time on sales and marketing and administration activities as needed. Consultants are expected to review periodic activity reports and work with their supervisors and develop strategies to ensure targets are met.
- Consultants are expected to travel as needed to meet the needs of client servicing, marketing, and business development. Consultants understand that work may require periodic availability on weekends and nights.
Consulting Services
- Assist in the development of the project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility.
- Assist with strategic approach outlined by project team and ongoing implementation of projects.
- Develop and maintain a detailed, comprehensive project plan to monitor project milestones and deliverables.
- Generate sound and progressive solutions that meet client needs.
- Assist in the production of client deliverables.
- Assist with data collection and analysis including development of written summaries.
- Write various documents to contextualize technical information into understandable narratives.
- Depending upon specific areas of expertise, assume increasing levels of responsibility on a diverse range of projects and project tasks; develop consulting expertise that can be replicated in future projects.
- Anticipates, escalate and propose solutions for service, quality or risk issues.
- Conduct research and literature reviews using appropriate industry publications and databases; analyze findings regarding healthcare policies, programs and technology.
- Assist with the design and/or implementation of evaluations and assessments (e.g., survey development, conducting stakeholder interviews, focus groups or site visits).
- Assist with meeting, conference, panel, hearing, etc. planning and coordination.
- Prepare for and participate in both internal team and external client meetings.
- Work with Associate Directors and Senior Consultants concurrently and manage time effectively.
- Achieve personal performance goals across multiple projects and clients.
Business Development
- Expand one’s own internal and external professional network
- Participate in industry/professional association activities
- In coordination with the marketing team, produce and review content for selected internal and external marketing tools, such as Firm newsletters, conference presentations, website content, and marketing webinars to highlight the Firm's capabilities, subject matter expertise and successes.
Knowledge Management
- Leverage policy and/or healthcare expertise to help Firm develop, document and communicate new solutions.
- Stay current on trends, processes, tools, and methodologies in area of expertise.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree and at least five (5) years' work experience in a healthcare policy administration role and/or in the healthcare consulting industry; advanced degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Public Health, Health Administration, business, economics or MBA preferred (or additional relevant experience in lieu of such advanced degree)
- Experience with Medicaid preferred.
