    Job Summary

DeWine Mechanical, a leading mechanical contractor serving the ethanol, biofuels, food processing, and industrial markets, is experiencing record growth—and we are strengthening our accounting function to support that expansion.

We are seeking a Senior Accountant who will play a critical role in modernizing our financial processes, improving accuracy and billing velocity, supporting compliance and prevailing wage requirements, and partnering closely with our Controller to elevate the entire accounting operation.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys untangling complex problems, improving systems, and building scalable accounting processes in a fast-paced construction environment. If you like ownership, variety, and meaningful impact, this is the job.

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Management & Reporting

Manage and support monthly close, general ledger accuracy, and financial reporting

Prepare and review job costing, work-in-progress schedules, and under/over billing analyses

Support forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis

    Billing, Compliance & Process Improvement

Lead improvements to billing timeliness and accuracy, including prevailing wage compliance and documentation

Support the team in addressing 45Z tax credit requirements and retroactive wage adjustments

Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and federal/state regulations

Evaluate, streamline, and standardize accounting workflows to reduce bottlenecks

    ERP & Systems Modernization

Serve as a key contributor in the transition from QuickBooks to a modern ERP system (e.g., Sage Intacct)

Help design and implement better accounting controls, reporting structures, and process automation

    Cross-Functional Partnership

Work side-by-side with our Controller as a strategic partner—not just a task executor

Collaborate with project managers, operations leaders, and executives to ensure accurate job costing and financial visibility

Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and tax preparers

    Qualifications

    Active CPA strongly preferred

5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in construction, mechanical, manufacturing, or job-cost environments

Strong working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit principles

Experience with prevailing wage, job costing, or multi-entity accounting a strong plus

Prior involvement in ERP transitions (Sage Intacct, Foundation, Viewpoint, Spectrum, etc.) highly valued

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills

Strong written and verbal communication; able to interface with field staff, leadership, and auditors

High attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines

Ability to thrive in a dynamic, growing company where processes are evolving
