Position Overview
Peak Experience Talent Search is hiring for a Construction Senior Accountant to support the accounting and payroll functions of a growing construction company. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and understands the unique accounting needs of public works and commercial construction projects.
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for payroll processing, union reporting, subcontractor compliance support, AP review, vendor reconciliations, audit preparation, and year-end close activities. This position requires strong experience with Foundation Software and the ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Process weekly payroll accurately and on time for field and office employees.
Prepare and submit monthly union reports and related labor documentation.
Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable labor requirements.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Return AP calls and respond to vendor inquiries professionally and promptly.
Review subcontractor certified payroll reports (CPR) for accuracy, completeness, and supporting documentation.
Communicate with clients regarding subcontractor billing, CPRs, and any accounting-related questions.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
Support audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and requested documentation.
Assist with general ledger account analysis and account reconciliations.
Maintain accurate job cost and project-related accounting records.
Partner with project managers, operations, and leadership to support financial reporting needs.
Contribute to process improvements within accounting and payroll workflows.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of progressive accounting experience in construction.
Strong hands-on experience with Foundation Software.
Payroll processing experience in a construction environment.
Experience preparing union reports.
Experience reconciling vendor statements.
Experience reviewing subcontractor certified payroll reports (CPR).
Experience supporting audits and year-end close.
Strong understanding of construction accounting and job cost principles.
Excellent communication and follow-up skills.
High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with public works or prevailing wage projects.
Knowledge of subcontractor compliance and billing processes.
Experience working in a mid-sized, growth-oriented construction company.
Familiarity with project-based accounting and cost tracking.
