Senior Accountant
JCR is a mission-driven organization operating in the legal services space, managing complex, high-volume financial workflows that directly impact people's lives. As we continue to scale, we are seeking a Senior Accountant to help strengthen the integrity, accuracy, and scalability of our accounting operations.
This is a hands-on role suited for a strong technical accountant who also brings operational discipline, sound judgment, and a mindset for process improvement. You will be deeply involved in day-to-day accounting while helping evolve systems and controls to support company growth.
Key Responsibilities
Own core accounting functions including:
General ledger management
Accounts receivable
Bank and account reconciliations
Journal entries
Month-end and year-end close processes
Payroll accounting and payroll-related reconciliations
Benefits accounting and employer contribution tracking
Support a high-volume transactional environment (10,000+ transactions monthly).
Ensure accurate fund tracking and reconciliation in accordance with legal and court-directed requirements.
Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements and internal reporting packages.
Maintain GAAP compliance and uphold strong internal control standards.
Process regular billing cycles and monitor collections activity.
Manage accounting related to employee benefits, including employer-paid contributions, benefit invoices, and reconciliations.
Coordinate and process payments for benefit providers, retirement plans, payroll tax liabilities, and other employee-related obligations.
Reconcile payroll reports, benefit deductions, employer contributions, and related liability accounts.
Support audit readiness, documentation, and coordination with external auditors and reviewers.
Partner cross-functionally on settlements, disbursements, payroll, benefits, and compliance initiatives.
Improve and optimize cloud-based accounting systems and automation processes.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives across accounting workflows.
Develop, formalize, and implement accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Experience in high-volume, multi-account environments
Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control frameworks
Experience with payroll accounting, benefits reconciliations, and employer contribution tracking
Proficiency in QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, or similar accounting systems
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, data analysis)
CPA preferred but not required
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $95,000 - $110,000
