Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant - Manufacturing is a key member of the plant finance team, working closely with the Regional Controller and plant operations management. This role oversees the month-end close process, ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, and supervises the accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions. The ideal candidate brings a passion for operational accounting, strong supervisory skills, and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insights.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Lead and execute the month-end financial closing process, ensuring completeness and accuracy
• Prepare and review timely account reconciliations
• Post accruals to ensure costs are matched to the appropriate accounting period
• Oversee cost accounting, margin reporting, overhead allocation, labor, and manufacturing cost absorption
• Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports to plant and regional management
• Provide financial analysis and operational insight to plant managers
• Supervise and develop two direct reports responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll processing
• Review and approve A/R, A/P, and payroll transactions to ensure accuracy and proper authorization
• Maintain and enforce internal financial controls at the plant level
• Support weekly cash reporting and cash management activities
• Assist with KPI tracking and reporting as directed by the Regional Controller
Periodic Duties:
• Support preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts
• Assist with analysis of actual costs by customer, program, and job
• Ensure inventory integrity through transaction oversight and participation in physical inventory counts
• Proactively identify accounting issues and collaborate on resolutions
• Participate in the annual audit and support documentation requests
Minimum Requirements:
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• Prior supervisory experience required; experience managing A/R, A/P, and/or payroll functions strongly preferred
• BS in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or CMA a plus
• Cost accounting experience required
• Demonstrated experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Proficiency with ERP systems required; experience with Visual Infor a plus
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment across all levels of the organization
