Senior Accounting Analyst

Wichita, KS
Full Time

  • Responsibilities

There’s a difference between doing accounting work and using accounting to influence a business.

This opportunity is built for someone who enjoys digging into complexity, understanding how a business makes money, and helping leaders make better decisions through strong financial insight and operational partnership. Our client is seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst to support a sophisticated trade accounting and controllership environment tied to inventory, commodities, derivatives, and global operations.

This is a role for someone who likes solving problems, not just processing transactions.

You’ll partner closely with accounting, finance, and operational teams to support critical month-end activities, analyze financial drivers, improve accounting processes, and help strengthen the systems and controls that support a growing global business. The environment is collaborative, analytical, and fast-moving... ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical accounting with business partnership and continuous improvement.

This role provides the opportunity to become a trusted analytical resource who can connect financial details to business outcomes, identify opportunities for improvement, and help modernize accounting processes through technology and smarter workflows.

    What Makes This Opportunity Different

This role offers exposure to areas many accounting professionals rarely get access to, including:

    • Trade support accounting tied to inventory and derivative activity
    • Cross-functional business partnership with finance and operations leaders
    • Financial analysis connected to profitability, margin, working capital, and market drivers
    • Finance transformation and process improvement initiatives
    • Advanced reporting and analytical tools including Power BI, OneStream, Alteryx, and emerging AI-enabled technologies

The team is looking for someone who enjoys asking questions, learning how the business operates, and finding ways to improve processes rather than simply maintaining them.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities tied to complex business transactions and trade accounting
    • Analyze financial results and operational data to identify trends, risks, and business insights
    • Improve reconciliations, reporting processes, and accounting workflows to increase efficiency and scalability
    • Partner with accounting and operational stakeholders to solve problems and strengthen financial visibility
    • Support finance transformation initiatives, system enhancements, and automation efforts
    • Help maintain strong internal controls and compliance with US GAAP and reporting requirements
    • Leverage technology and data tools to improve reporting quality and decision support

    What They’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring a strong accounting and analytical foundation combined with curiosity, ownership, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative business environment.

Most successful candidates will likely have:

    • Experience in accounting, finance, audit, trade support accounting, or related analytical finance roles
    • Strong data analysis and reconciliation experience involving large or complex datasets
    • Exposure to ERP systems and financial reporting tools
    • A process improvement mindset with interest in automation and technology
    • The ability to communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance stakeholders

Exposure to inventory accounting, derivative accounting, Power BI, OneStream, Alteryx, or finance transformation initiatives would be especially valuable, but the bigger differentiator is someone who enjoys learning, solving problems, and improving how work gets done.

Why Someone Would Make This Move

For the right person, this is a chance to step into a more dynamic and business-connected accounting role without needing to move immediately into people leadership. It offers the opportunity to work on more sophisticated financial problems, gain broader operational exposure, and build capabilities that position someone for larger finance, controllership, or strategic accounting opportunities over time.

This is the kind of role that appeals to accountants who want more influence, more business exposure, and more opportunity to grow, while still staying close to the technical and analytical work they genuinely enjoy.

    Compensation

Pay is expected to be in the $85,000–$105,000 base salary range, with final compensation determined by experience, accounting depth, analytical capability, systems exposure, and alignment with the role’s trade accounting and business partnership responsibilities. Benefits package is very competitive and includes the ability to work hybrid remote two times a week, following completion of onboarding, with leadership approval.
