Senior Accounting Manager - PATH Foundation

Warrenton, VA
Full Time
Paid
  • Responsibilities

Over the past decade, the PATH Foundation has invested more than $94 million to strengthen the health and vitality of the Fauquier, Rappahannock, and Culpeper counties through local programs, partnerships, and grants focused on wellness and community improvement. With a $280 million well-managed endowment, a track record of clean audits, and steady leadership, PATH maintains a strong financial position and has a stellar reputation for promoting community well-being and growth. As Senior Accounting Manager, you will help to ensure the financial transparency and accountability needed to sustain the community trust that underpins our work.

Reporting to the CFO and leading a skilled two-person accounting team, you will oversee PATH’s day-to-day accounting operations and help maintain the systems and processes that support our financial health. This includes managing the general ledger, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and monthly close; producing internal and external financial reports; and overseeing QuickBooks Online. You’ll coordinate audit and tax filings (990, 990-PF, and 990-T), consolidate financials across PATH and its fiscally sponsored initiative(s), and record investment activity based on reports from our custodians and advisors. You’ll also support the CFO with data, reporting, and variance analysis throughout the annual budgeting process.

This role requires a collaborative and hands-on approach, technical accounting expertise, and the ability to serve as both a trusted advisor to the CFO and a welcoming resource for staff across the organization. While our current systems and processes are working well, we welcome recommendations to enhance efficiency and accuracy in ways that strengthen our service to the people and organizations we support.

    How You’ll Make an Impact

PATH is entering a key moment as we prepare for a planned CFO transition, with a respected internal leader set to step into the role. As Senior Accounting Manager, you’ll provide steady leadership to the accounting team and maintain continuity through the hand-off—ensuring month-end and year-end closes, financial reporting, audit preparation, tax return preparation, and internal controls remain reliable and on schedule. You’ll uphold the high standards already established by the team, ensuring fund-level accuracy, tracking of outgoing grants, and ongoing compliance with GAAP and IRS regulations. Your disciplined oversight will help protect the financial resources that fuel PATH’s community philanthropy—advancing access to health, childhood wellness, mental health, senior services, and more—while providing leadership with timely, accurate data to inform planning and decision-making. In doing so, you’ll be a trusted partner in both day-to-day operations and the long-term stability of our finance function.
