    The role

Company is hiring a Senior Architectural Medical Planner to lead programming, medical planning, and clinical integration for complex healthcare environments. This is a senior subject-matter expert position that sits at the intersection of clinical operations and architectural design—translating care delivery models, workflows, and regulatory requirements into efficient, compliant, patient-centered spaces.

This role is Seattle-based and works across multiple projects and scales, partnering with architects, designers, planners, and project managers. Strong regional healthcare experience in Washington and Oregon is important; California experience is a plus.

    What you’ll be doing

    • Develop functional and space programs, adjacency diagrams, stacking plans, and test fits
    • Translate clinical workflows, staffing models, and patient flow into clear spatial solutions
    • Run clinical user interviews, planning workshops, and visioning sessions to shape design direction
    • Partner closely with clinicians and stakeholders to understand care delivery models, equipment needs, and operational constraints
    • Align architectural design with clinical operations, patient experience, and long-term functionality
    • Evaluate efficiency, safety, infection control, and staff workflows throughout planning and design
    • Serve as the medical planning lead within integrated, multi-discipline project teams
    • Collaborate across design and documentation phases with PMs, designers, and technical teams
    • Review drawings/specs for alignment with program, operations, and regulatory requirements
    • Mentor junior and mid-level staff and help grow internal medical planning capability

    What you bring

    • Master’s-level professional degree in Architecture, Medical Planning, Interior Architecture, or related field
    • 15+ years healthcare design experience, including 8+ years focused medical planning
    • Advanced Revit proficiency (required)
    • Track record planning complex healthcare settings, including renovations, behavioral health facilities, imaging suites, and labs
    • Strong understanding of healthcare operations, clinical workflows, and regulatory frameworks
    • Experience coordinating with AHJs and agencies (including DOH and Oregon Health Authority)
    • Preferred: Licensed Architect and/or NCIDQ; AIA/NCIDQ and/or PMP
    • Experience with large healthcare systems or academic medical centers
