We are seeking a Senior Backup & Disaster Recovery Engineer to lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of enterprise data protection strategies across a complex, high-availability environment.

This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in mission-critical infrastructure, has deep hands-on experience with Rubrik and Zerto, and can confidently own backup integrity, disaster recovery execution, and business continuity outcomes.

You will play a key role in safeguarding enterprise systems against data loss, cyber threats, and operational disruptions, while driving modernization and resilience across both on-premise and hybrid environments.

This is a 100% on-site role in Johns Creek, GA. Remote or hybrid candidates will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Backup & Data Protection

Administer and optimize Rubrik backup environments.

Configure SLA domains and backup retention policies.

Monitor backup health and conduct capacity planning.

Disaster Recovery & Replication

Manage Zerto replication, including failover and failback workflows.

Conduct regular disaster recovery testing and document outcomes.

Validate that recovery point and recovery time objectives (RPO/RTO) are met.

Infrastructure & Integration

Support VMware environments and storage platforms (e.g., Pure, NetApp).

Integrate backup solutions with cloud platforms if applicable (Azure, AWS).

Perform isolated recovery environment (IRE) testing.

Incident Response & Continuous Improvement

Lead responses to data loss or system outages with coordinated recovery.

Analyze root causes and implement preventative measures.

Continuously improve backup and DR processes in line with evolving threats.

Governance & Compliance

Maintain audit-ready documentation for backup and recovery.

Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulations.

Develop DR runbooks and operational documentation.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of enterprise backup and disaster recovery experience

Strong hands-on experience with Rubrik backup solutions

Proven experience with Zerto replication and DR orchestration

Deep understanding of disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution

Experience supporting virtualized environments (VMware) and enterprise storage

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities in production environments

Excellent communication and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Quantum storage systems

Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) in backup/DR contexts

Experience supporting enterprise-scale DR testing and compliance audits

Relevant certifications (VMCE, CDMP, or similar)
