CAD Checker
United States | Direct Hire | $85,000-$100,000 + Bonus | Fully Remote
We are actively looking for a highly experienced and detail-oriented CAD Checker to perform in-depth reviews of technical and fabrication drawings. This role is not focused on creating drawings, but rather on reviewing, marking up, and providing redlines to ensure drawing packages meet internal standards, industry expectations, and manufacturing readiness. This position plays a critical quality control role in our fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review detailed CAD drawings and fabrication packages for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to internal standards and project specifications.
- Identify and document drawing discrepancies, dimensional errors, missing views, tolerancing issues, and other quality concerns.
- Provide clear, actionable redlines and markups for drafters and designers to revise.
- Collaborate with engineering, drafting, and fabrication teams to resolve design conflicts and ensure design intent is accurately represented.
- Contribute to drawing standards and best practices documentation where applicable.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in a drawing checking, detailing, or drafting role within a relevant industry (mechanical systems, structural steel, pressure vessels, acoustic enclosures, or custom-fabricated equipment preferred).
- Deep familiarity with mechanical and fabrication drawing standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5, weld symbols, GD&T, etc.).
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify inconsistencies, missing data, or manufacturability issues in technical drawings.
- Strong communication and organizational skills; comfortable providing feedback to design teams.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD is helpful, but this is not a CAD design position.
- Background in HRSGs, heavy industrial equipment, oil & gas, or energy-related equipment manufacturing.
- Familiarity with design documentation workflows and drawing release processes.
