    Why This Role Exists This is not a typical Project Manager hire. We are building the next layer of leadership at VonArx Engineering. As we scale, our President/Principal Engineer needs a trusted right-hand- someone who can lead the engineering team day-to-day and own project delivery. Position Summary The Senior Project Manager serves as the operational and technical lead for VonArx Engineering's engineering staff and project portfolio. Reporting directly to the CEO and President/Principal Engineer, this person oversees all project delivery and mentors and develops the engineering team. Responsibilities: ENGINEERING LEADERSHIP Oversee the day-to-day performance of all engineering staff: engineers, CAD designers, and project managers Lead and enforce firmwide QA/QC standards, design practices, and deliverable quality Monitor team workloads, deadlines, and resource allocation; proactively surface issues to leadership Serve as a mentor, coach, and technical resource for engineering staff at all levels Champion a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional excellence PROJECT DELIVERY Manage a portfolio of civil and structural projects from kickoff through closeout Serve as Engineer of Record on assigned projects; review and seal plans per Missouri P.E. requirements Own project scopes, schedules, budgets, and client communication on assigned work Lead client meetings, agency coordination, and municipal submittals Coordinate multi-discipline efforts and resolve technical issues at the project level Lead in the preparation of proposals, fee estimates, and scope development FIRM DEVELOPMENT Build and document engineering processes and SOPs to reduce institutional knowledge dependency Support hiring decisions, onboarding of new engineering staff, and team structure planning Represent the firm professionally with clients, referral partners, and at industry events Operate with an ownership mindset, caring about outcomes, not just outputs Qualifications: REQUIRED Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Missouri 8+ years of progressive civil and/or structural engineering experience Demonstrated track record of managing engineering projects and client relationships Experience leading and mentoring engineering staff Strong proficiency in Civil 3D and/or AutoCAD Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and in client-facing settings PREFERRED Multi-state P.E. licensure (IL, CO preferred) or willingness to obtain Experience in site development, land development, grading, drainage, and stormwater management Background in both private development and public/municipal project work Familiarity with Missouri and regional permitting processes Experience in a small or boutique engineering firm environment Demonstrated interest in firm leadership, business development, or ownership Compensation: $105,000 - $141,000 yearly
