Commercial Credit Administrator (Credit Risk Management)
Overview
A leading community bank recognized as one of the region’s “Best Places to Work” is seeking a Commercial Credit Administrator to join its Credit Risk Management team. In a team-oriented environment, this role supports the safe, disciplined growth of the commercial loan portfolio by ensuring strong credit administration, consistent risk management, and timely decisioning.
The Commercial Credit Administrator partners closely with Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, and Underwriters to maintain the integrity of the credit process, strengthen underwriting quality, and support business momentum. While this position does not typically carry formal direct reports, it provides dotted-line leadership through active coaching, review, and development of credit staff and deal teams.

Key Responsibilities
Credit Administration & Risk Governance
Maintain the integrity of the credit management process by enforcing credit policies and procedures.
Review credit packages to ensure presentations are accurate, complete, and well-supported with clear risk identification and mitigation.
Ensure credits are accurately risk graded, appropriately structured, and that sources of repayment are well-defined and reasonable.
Approve Credit Recommendations and Special Action Credit Reports within delegated authority.
Serve as a voting member of the Internal Loan Committee.
Portfolio Oversight
Monitor the commercial real estate (CRE) and commercial & industrial (C&I) portfolios for emerging risk, weakness, and covenant/documentation issues.
Recommend and implement appropriate actions and procedures to address portfolio trends and credit quality concerns.
Develop and implement problem loan resolution plans that enhance loan collectability while mitigating litigation and reputational risk.
Deal Team Support, Coaching & Credit Quality Improvement
Partner closely with Portfolio Managers and Underwriters to improve the quality of credit analysis, underwriting, and deal execution.
Provide guidance, mentoring, and feedback that builds underwriting capability and consistency across teams.
Help reduce rework and “kickbacks” by proactively coaching deal teams early in the credit development process.
Maintain strong, responsive internal customer service while upholding credit discipline and sound judgment.
Support continuous improvement by recommending and helping implement policy/process updates to reflect market and regulatory changes.
Qualifications
Required Experience
10+ years of commercial credit experience with demonstrated depth in C&I underwriting and strong working knowledge of CRE.
Prior experience in a Credit Administrator / Regional Credit Officer / Credit Approval role (or equivalent) with delegated approval authority strongly preferred.
Proven ability to balance risk discipline with business practicality (avoiding overly conservative decisioning).
Strong understanding of documentation for complex credits, including notes, loan agreements, security agreements, and title documents.
Skills & Competencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate credit concepts clearly and quickly.
High standards for accuracy, credit quality, and compliance.
Collaborative, team-oriented style with the ability to influence without formal authority.
Strong accounting knowledge (college coursework or equivalent professional experience) as applied to credit and cash flow analysis.
Education
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Compensation & Benefits
Hiring pay range: $157,216 to $227,963 (base pay), depending on factors such as location, experience, education, and skill level.
