    The Opportunity

    We are seeking a Senior Data Architect & Security Lead to take ownership of designing, upgrading, and securing the data architecture of our cloud-based SaaS platform. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in database composition, data governance, and security standards. This role requires a balance between strategic vision and hands-on technical implementation to ensure scalability, performance, and compliance with security standards.

    An exceptional opportunity awaits to be part of Adobe's electronic signature service (Acrobat Sign), an innovative GenAI-based contract & document understanding service, and a GenAI platform service used for understanding large scale document collections for enterprises.     What you will need to succeed

    1. Business sense: Good grasp of business, strategy, and finance. Visionary and diligent.

    2. Data architecture & design expertise: Help direct, develop and maintain a scalable and efficient data architecture for our SaaS platform, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

    3. Database optimization techniques: Help develop, modify database schemas, indexing and data partitioning strategies to improve system efficiency.

    4. Data governance experience: Establish guidelines for data integrity, lifecycle management, and access control.

    5. Data security & compliance knowledge: Define and enforce security policies, encryption standards, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2, HIPAA).

    6. ETL & data pipelines: Oversee the development and optimization of ETL processes to manage large-scale data ingestion and processing.

    7. Disaster recovery & high availability experience:

    • Support the designing and maintenance of HA/DR strategies using replication, clustering, and backup plans.

    • Partner with infrastructure teams to ensure RTO/RPO requirements are met.

    8. Security leadership: Work closely with security teams to implement proactive measures against data breaches and vulnerabilities.

    9. Technology evaluation expertise: Stay up-to-date with the newest technologies and trends in data architecture and security.

    10. Collaborating with multiple functions:

    • Have experience partnering with application architects, security leads, product management, and devops teams to align data strategies with business goals.

    • Provide mentorship to developers on schema building and data access patterns.

    11. Soft Skills

    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

    • Clear communication skills to convey complex ideas to exec management as well as developers.

    • Leadership in guiding database governance and architecture reviews.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

    • 15+ years of experience in database architecture, data engineering, security and software development.

    • Strong expertise in SQL, NoSQL, and distributed databases

    • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (AWS RDS, etc).

    • Knowledge of modern data lake and data warehouse architectures.

    • Experience with encryption, identity management, and data masking techniques.

    • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash) and automation tools for security and data management.

    • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes).

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Effective communicator who can clarify technical concepts to non-technical team members.

    • Prior experience in a SaaS environment handling multi-tenant architectures.

    • Experience in crafting microservices-based data architectures.

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this positionis $190,200 -- $351,300 annually. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills,and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.

    At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

    In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
