    Job Summary

    Custom Cylinders, Inc. is located in Cary, IL and has been designing and manufacturing high quality, custom pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders, valves and fittings since 1984. We are currently seeing tremendous growth in several of the industries that we serve, which has created an immediate need for a skilled Design and Production Engineer.

    We are seeking an experienced Design and Production Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of the product design, launch, and continuous improvement processes. This person will also have responsibility for the implementation and ongoing management of our Quality Management System. Responsibilities will include the following:

    Product Design & Development

    Lead the design of new pneumatic and hydraulic cylinder products, valves and fittings.

    Modeling of parts in Fusion 360 for CAD/CAM.

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product specifications and performance requirements.

    Develop and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, and test plans.

    Conduct design reviews and prototype evaluations to ensure manufacturability and performance.

    Production Engineering

    Provide hands-on support to machining and assembly departments.

    Troubleshoot production issues and implement design or process improvements.

    Drive cost reduction and efficiency initiatives through design optimization.

    Quality Management

    Implement and manage the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).

    Develop inspection criteria, control plans, and quality documentation.

    Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes for quality issues.

    Ensure compliance with internal standards and customer requirements.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

    5+ years of experience in product design and production engineering.

    3+ years of experience designing fluid power components (pneumatic and/ or hydraulic cylinders strongly preferred).

    Proficiency in Fusion 360 for CAD/CAM design a plus.

    Strong understanding of machining, and assembly process for hydraulic and pneumatic components.

    Experience with quality systems and continuous improvement methodologies.

    Knowledge of materials and tolerancing for pneumatic and hydraulic applications.

    Preferred Skills:

    Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100 or similar quality standards a plus.

    Experience with ERP systems (EPICOR Kinetic) and engineering change control a plus.

    Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems a plus.
