About the Role:
This is an on-site position based in San Diego, California for a licensed Electrical Professional Engineer who wants to lead the engineering and technical execution of complex commercial electrical system designs, mentor developing engineers and designers, coordinate multidisciplinary projects, and contribute to the continued growth of a rapidly expanding MEP engineering firm.
Compensation & Benefits:
Annual Salary Range: $130,000–$149,000, based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated technical expertise.

What You'll Do:
Engineer and oversee power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, low-voltage, and other electrical building systems for commercial projects
Prepare and review engineering calculations, equipment selections, specifications, and construction documents utilizing Revit and AutoCAD
Perform electrical load calculations, short circuit and coordination studies (as applicable), lighting calculations, panel schedules, and Title 24 lighting compliance
Coordinate electrical engineering designs with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, structural, and civil disciplines
Review project drawings for technical accuracy, constructability, and compliance with company QA/QC standards
Mentor Electrical Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers while supporting technical development across the department
Participate in client meetings, project coordination meetings, and internal design reviews
Support Project Managers with technical guidance while maintaining project schedules, budgets, and quality expectations
Seal engineering documents in accordance with applicable licensing requirements when appropriate

Fully integrated into project teams and company workflows
Leading engineering efforts on multiple commercial projects with minimal supervision
Providing technical mentorship and engineering guidance across project teams
Building strong client and internal relationships while consistently delivering high-quality engineering solutions
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (California preferred)
10+ years of U.S.-based commercial electrical engineering experience
Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Visual Lighting, AGi32, SKM PowerTools, ETAP, EasyPower, or other industry-standard electrical engineering software
Experience preparing engineering calculations, equipment selections, specifications, and construction documents for commercial MEP projects
Thorough understanding of the California Electrical Code (CEC), California Building Code (CBC), California Energy Code (Title 24), NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 72, and applicable industry codes
Experience performing electrical load calculations, power distribution design, lighting design, panel schedules, equipment sizing, and multidisciplinary coordination
Experience mentoring junior engineers and designers
Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills
Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
