    Location: Kansas City, KS

    Type: Full-Time | Onsite | Permanent

    Salary: $82,000 – $122,000 + Annual Bonus

    A leading Engineering and Architecture firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist to join their team. This confidential, permanent position plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing environmental compliance across company operations and construction projects.

    Position Overview: The Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist will lead environmental programs across complex operating assets and construction sites. This role requires advanced knowledge of environmental regulations and hands-on experience managing compliance systems, permitting, field operations, and agency interactions. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong communication skills and a passion for environmental stewardship.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage environmental compliance systems and lead internal audits
    • Oversee permitting processes across all media, ensuring accuracy and regulatory alignment
    • Represent the company during agency inspections and compliance negotiations
    • Apply risk-based analysis to resolve regulatory applicability and compliance issues
    • Conduct field inspections, collect environmental samples, and provide 24/7 emergency response support
    • Mentor junior staff, develop procedures, and manage external consultants and contractors

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum 8 years of experience in environmental consulting, oil and gas, or heavy industry
    • Strong working knowledge of RCRA, NPDES, and SPCC (required); familiarity with Title V and Air Regulations (preferred)
    • BS or BA preferred; degree in an environmental-related field is a plus
    • Excellent writing and communication skills across phone, email, text, and Teams
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Ability to work independently and respond to emergency events 24/7 (unless on approved PTO)
    • Experience with remediation and spill cleanup is a plus
