Responsibilities: • Manage a full caseload of complex family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and equitable distribution • Develop and execute a case strategy from intake through resolution, including litigation, negotiation, mediation, and settlement • Represent clients in court hearings, trials, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings • Conduct advanced legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and settlement agreements • Prepare clients for court appearances, depositions, and mediation with clarity and confidence • Provide thoughtful, practical legal guidance tailored to each client’s goals and circumstances • Maintain high standards of client communication and responsiveness throughout representation • Collaborate closely with paralegals, legal assistants, and associates to ensure cases move forward efficiently • Mentor junior attorneys by offering case strategy guidance, courtroom insight, and professional development support • Contribute to continuous process improvement within the firm’s case management systems and workflows • Participate in firm meetings and strategic discussions to support overall firm growth • Maintain compliance with North Carolina Rules of Professional Conduct and court procedures • Manage deadlines and court calendars effectively to ensure timely case progression • Support business development efforts through relationship building and professional networking as appropriate Qualifications: • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school • Active license to practice law in North Carolina and in good standing • 13+ years of experience practicing family law , including significant courtroom experience • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex and high-conflict cases • Strong litigation skills, including motion practice, evidentiary hearings, and trial advocacy • Proven ability to negotiate effectively in mediation and settlement conferences • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • High level of emotional intelligence and ability to work with clients during stressful and sensitive circumstances • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously • Strategic thinker with sound judgment and practical problem-solving abilities • Leadership mindset with interest in mentoring and supporting other attorneys • Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and ethical practice • Proficiency with legal technology and case management systems Compensation: $150,000+ yearly
