  • Responsibilities

    Location: Remote (In the United States)
    Compensation: $80k to $100k depending on experience
    Caseload: ~150 active claims

    Summary
    Role focuses on handling public entity claims in Pennsylvania, with limited exposure to New Jersey, New York, and Texas. Most claims arise from municipal operations including police pursuits, public works, transportation, roads, and water departments. Prior public entity experience is required.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage public entity liability claims for PA municipalities and related agencies.

    • Investigate and evaluate incidents involving police chases, public works operations, roadway conditions, school districts, and other government units.

    • Apply the Pennsylvania Tort Immunity Act and understand sovereign and qualified immunity defenses.

    • Work within strict statutory caps.

    • Assess claims related to public hospitals, schools, police departments, and local or state agencies.

    • Maintain accurate documentation, reserve setting, and timely claim progression.

    • Collaborate with counsel, public agencies, and team members

    Requirements

    • Direct experience with public entity liability claims in PA.

    • Working knowledge of PA Tort Immunity Act and related immunity protections.

    • Familiarity with municipal operations such as roads, water, and snow removal.

    • Understanding of police liability issues.

    • Experience with aging infrastructure issues in PA is useful.

    • Licensing preferred but not required.

    Ideal Profile

    • Proven ability to navigate strict state liability caps and immunity constraints.

    • Efficient claims handler with strong analytical skills and public entity exposure.

    • Capable of managing a complex but stable claim inventory.

    Working Conditions:

    • May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment.
    • The ability to lift up to 30lbs
    • Use of computers and technology
