    We’re in search of a highly motivated, people-friendly, organized human resources advisor to join our team. This person must be located in Charleston, SC, and have at least 5 years of experience as a Senior HR Advisor, Specialist, or Coordinator with their SHRM certification. You will oversee all aspects of employee relations, including recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, coaching, and training, play a key role in strategic planning and business administration, and ensure we are in compliance with the most recent employment laws. We’re looking for a Senior Human Resources Advisor who thrives in a consultative environment. This role combines hands-on HR support, client advisory work, and leadership of HR Advisors, making it ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, coaching leaders, and improving HR systems and processes. Typical backgrounds that succeed in this role include HR Business Partners, HR Consultants, Senior HR Generalists, and HR professionals from PEO or outsourced HR service environments. Responsibilities: What Makes This Role Different This isn’t a traditional internal HR role. You’ll support multiple client organizations, helping them navigate both day-to-day HR needs and larger people initiatives. As a Senior HR Advisor , you will also mentor and support HR Advisors, ensuring consistent and high-quality HR service delivery. In addition to leadership responsibilities, you will maintain your own portfolio of client accounts, providing ongoing HR support, including employee relations guidance, policy interpretation, payroll processing, payroll and benefits questions, hiring support, and other HR generalist responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Client HR Support • Serve as the primary HR contact for assigned client organizations • Provide day-to-day HR guidance on employee relations, benefits, policies, payroll, and HR systems • Coach managers through workplace challenges and employee situations • Oversee hiring processes and support onboarding and offboarding activities • Assist with payroll processing and coordination • Assist with benefits open enrollment • Lead projects such as developing employee handbooks, improving onboarding programs, and implementing performance management processes Team Leadership • Provide mentorship and guidance to HR Advisors supporting client accounts • Ensure consistent, high-quality HR service delivery across the team • Serve as an escalation point for complex employee relations or compliance issues • Support the development and growth of HR Advisors Compliance & Risk Management • Stay current on multi-state employment laws and HR best practices • Ensure HR practices remain compliant with federal, state, and local regulations • Verify policies when navigating cross-state employment questions • Escalate potential risks or compliance concerns when necessary Vendor & Operational Support • Maintain relationships with HR vendors to support effective service delivery • Identify opportunities to improve HR systems, workflows, and processes Qualifications: • Must live in Charleston, SC Experience • 5+ years of progressive HR experience • Strong background in employee relations and HR consulting • Experience advising leaders through complex workplace situations • Experience working with multi-state employment laws • Experience mentoring or guiding HR professionals Education • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field Certifications (Preferred) • SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP • PHR / SPHR Who Thrives in This Role This role is a great fit for HR professionals who: • Enjoy both strategic thinking and hands-on HR work • Like variety and can manage multiple clients and priorities • Enjoy coaching leaders and solving complex workplace challenges • Take initiative and work well independently • Enjoy mentoring other HR professionals and improving HR systems and processes This Role May Not Be a Fit If… • You prefer a highly structured role with the same responsibilities every day • You are looking for a purely strategic HR role with no hands-on HR work • You prefer supporting a single internal organization rather than multiple clients Why People Love This Role • Work with a variety of organizations and industries • Solve meaningful workplace challenges every day • Influence people, strategy, and organizational culture • Mentor and support other HR professionals Equal Opportunity Employer We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
