As a Senior HR Generalist, you will serve as a key member of the People team, supporting and executing across payroll, benefits, HR systems, compliance, policy development, and employee experience initiatives. This role requires strong multi-state expertise, technical HR systems knowledge, and the ability to balance day-to-day execution with continuous process improvement.
This is a full-time, exempt position with a hybrid schedule (minimum three days onsite).
Core Duties:
Payroll & HRIS Administration
Process semi-monthly, multi-state payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely funding of benefit deductions and retirement contributions.
Serve as subject matter expert for the HRIS and payroll system, resolving issues and ensuring data integrity.
Ensure compliance with payroll regulations across multiple jurisdictions, including tax filings and state registrations as needed.
Run advanced HRIS and payroll reports to support leadership decision-making.
Benefits & Leave Administration
Lead day-to-day benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, billing reconciliation, and vendor coordination.
Oversee the annual open enrollment process, including communication, system configuration, and employee education.
Coordinate leave-of-absence administration in partnership with third-party vendors, ensuring proper approvals, tracking, and payroll alignment.
Support compliance requirements related to ACA, COBRA, retirement plans, and other regulatory obligations.
Assist with retirement plan audits and annual nondiscrimination testing.
Compliance, Policy & Risk Management
Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour regulations and workplace policies.
Lead the creation, review, and updating of company policies to ensure regulatory alignment and operational clarity.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to payroll, benefits, leave administration, and HR operations.
Support internal and external audits, including benefits, workers’ compensation, and other compliance-related reviews.
Serve as point of contact for workers’ compensation and safety-related processes, supporting training and committee coordination as needed.
Employee Lifecycle & Talent Support
Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire orientations and exit procedures.
Assist with full-cycle recruiting efforts, including job postings, candidate screening, offer letter preparation, and coordination with hiring managers.
Support annual merit cycles and performance review processes, ensuring accurate HRIS documentation.
Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Maintain accurate HR data across compensation, benefits, training, and recruiting.
Generate and analyze reports to identify trends and provide strategic recommendations.
Recommend process improvements and automation opportunities to increase efficiency and scalability within the HR function.
Culture & Engagement Initiatives
Support employee engagement and inclusion initiatives, including culture programming and internal events.
Foster a positive, service-oriented HR experience by responding to employee inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
5+ years of progressive HR experience with a strong generalist background.
4+ years of multi-state payroll experience with deep knowledge of complex state wage and hour regulations.
3+ years of experience working with HRIS and payroll systems; experience with integrated platforms preferred.
Experience managing large employer benefits programs, retirement plan administration, and compliance requirements.
Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables, lookup functions, and data analysis).
Strong understanding of federal and state employment regulations.
Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
