Senior Hydrogeologist
Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to join its team of professionals working on complex and rewarding projects nationwide. This position can be based out of multiple locations including Jacksonville, Tampa, Pensacola (FL); Houston (TX); Memphis, Knoxville, Nashville (TN); or Hartford (CT). In this role, you will lead multidisciplinary projects involving environmental site investigation, groundwater modeling, remediation design, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities:
Design and lead complex environmental site investigations, including drilling, aquifer testing, geophysical logging, sampling, and monitoring well installation
Develop conceptual site models and conduct contaminant fate and transport analyses
Oversee field activities ensuring safety compliance, subcontractor coordination, and scheduling
Interpret hydrogeologic data for use in risk assessment, remedial design, and regulatory decision-making
Utilize advanced groundwater modeling tools to support remediation and optimization strategies
Prepare and review technical documentation including work plans, SOPs, and technical reports
Mentor junior staff, perform quality control reviews, and serve as a technical advisor
Engage with clients and regulatory agencies, offering expert guidance and strategic insights
Optimize passive and active remediation approaches including long-term monitoring (LTM)
Conduct analytical and numerical modeling of soil, water, and indoor air system
Provide litigation support, including expert testimony and reporting
Perform statistical evaluations, sequence stratigraphy, and background studies
Travel up to approximately 30%, including occasional overnight trips
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Geology, Engineering, or related field
15–20 years of professional experience, preferably in environmental consulting
Professional Geologist or Engineer license (by exam)
Strong background in hydrogeologic characterization, groundwater modeling, and remediation optimization
Knowledge of CERCLA, RCRA, and state-specific environmental regulations
Proven ability to manage projects, mentor teams, and communicate across stakeholders
Proficient in data analysis, technical writing, and visual representation (charts, tables, maps)
Experienced with modeling tools such as MODFLOW, MT3D, VISTAS, and EVS
Familiarity with GIS platforms
Excellent verbal/written communication and attention to detail
Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
Preferred Skills:
Experience with litigation support and regulatory negotiation
Advanced modeling of indoor air attenuation and sediment systems
Sequence stratigraphy expertise

Travel: Up to 30% with occasional overnight trips
Compensation: $120-140,000
