As a Senior Instructor with Denver Test Prep, you’ll play a key role in helping students achieve life-changing growth, both in their academic coursework and on standardized tests. Our tutors work 1-on-1 with motivated students, providing highly customized instruction that supports strong academic skills, boosts confidence, and helps students reach their long-term educational goals. You’ll spend most of your time meeting students in person (homes, offices, libraries), teaching strategy-driven content, tracking student progress, and communicating clearly with families and our team. While the position offers significant schedule flexibility, expect to work afternoons, evenings, and at least one weekend day each week during the school year. Compensation is $62,000 - $68,000 per year and can be adjusted for part-time. Responsibilities: • Deliver high-quality, 1-on-1 academic tutoring, ACT/SAT test prep, and/or academic coaching that meet each student’s individual goals. • Develop customized lesson plans and adjust instruction based on student progress and needs. • Maintain excellent communication with families and Denver Test Prep leadership, providing regular updates on student progress and session outcomes. • Manage scheduling directly with families, coordinating session times and locations across the Denver and Boulder metro areas. • Drive to in-person tutoring sessions at homes, offices, libraries, and other agreed-upon locations. • Track and document student performance, session notes, and key milestones to ensure students stay on track toward their goals. Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • Graduate of a 4-year college or university. Major in a STEM field and/or a graduate degree preferred. • Minimum GPA of 3.0 for STEM majors or 3.3 for liberal arts majors in the most recent degree completed. • 2+ years of teaching or tutoring experience required. Experience with high school students and group or classroom teaching experience preferred. • Ability to achieve a top 2% score on the ACT and SAT (measured by an official practice test later in the interview process). • Strong track record of clear and effective communication with diverse stakeholders. • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to form and maintain meaningful connections with DTP clients and non-profit partners. • Proven ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks independently and within a team setting. • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with the initiative to drive projects from inception to completion. • Candidates must excel at working with middle and high school-age students. Ability to work with elementary age students preferred, but not required. REQUIRED COURSE CONTENT KNOWLEDGE • Candidates must be able to tutor middle and high school math, including Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. • Candidates must be qualified to tutor at least four of the following standard high school courses: Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, or English. • Candidates must also be qualified to tutor at least two of the following advanced or AP-level courses: AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Biology, AP Computer Science A, AP Statistics, AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature, AP World History, or AP U.S. History.
