An award-winning architecture and design firm is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to lead concept development, design direction, and project execution across a range of workplace and civic projects. With offices in multiple cities and a reputation for thoughtful, sustainable design, this team blends architecture and interiors into cohesive, story-rich environments.
This is a fully on-site role in San Francisco, ideal for a designer who thrives in collaborative studios, can guide both clients and junior staff, and wants to take ownership of impactful work at every scale.
What you’ll do:
- Partner with studio leadership to shape and communicate overall design direction
- Develop conceptual ideas and present design solutions to clients
- Lead interiors scope across projects of all sizes and complexity, from concept through construction
- Guide schematic design work and maintain oversight throughout design development, documentation, and construction phases
- Coordinate interior architecture with overall building design, working closely with the architectural team
- Mentor and support junior staff, providing day-to-day design leadership and team coordination
- Prepare visual and technical design materials including drawings, models, mood boards, and presentation documents
- Research, select, and coordinate finishes, products, and furnishings — ensuring alignment with sustainability goals
- Oversee the design and implementation of furniture packages in collaboration with dealers and vendors
- Support the integration of branding elements into architectural interiors
What you bring:
- A professional degree in Interior Design or Architecture (BS/BA/BFA/MA/MFA), with at least 10 years of relevant experience
- A strong foundation in all phases of interior architecture, including concept development, detailing, documentation, and construction
- Demonstrated leadership in large, complex workplace projects, with growing responsibilities across teams and project scopes
- Proficiency in Revit, with additional skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, Rhino, and other visualization tools
- Excellent communication skills — both verbal and written — with the ability to guide teams and engage clients
- Familiarity with building materials, systems, and codes, as well as construction techniques and project delivery methods
- Active pursuit of professional licensure is preferred; LEED AP is a plus
- Strong planning and organizational abilities, with deep knowledge of interior finishes, furniture systems, and specifications
- A collaborative, self-directed mindset and the ability to work independently within a team environment
