Senior Landscape Estimator

Role Summary

The Senior Landscape Estimator is a critical leadership role responsible for accurately preparing detailed cost estimates for complex, large-scale commercial and high-end residential installation projects for Korpi Lawn and Landscape. This position requires exceptional analytical skills, deep knowledge of landscape construction methods, and the ability to manage the estimating process from initial bid invitation through final proposal submission.

Key Responsibilities

Estimate Production: Prepare comprehensive, highly accurate, and timely cost estimates, including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and overhead, for multi-phase landscape installation and hardscape projects (e.g., patios, retaining walls, grading, plantings, and irrigation).

Bid Management: Lead the entire bidding process, reviewing blueprints and specifications, performing detailed quantity take-offs, and ensuring compliance with all project requirements and scope.

Supplier & Subcontractor Relations: Negotiate pricing and scope with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive bids, maintain a robust network of reliable partners, and vet all quotes for accuracy.

Process Improvement: Continuously review and refine estimating protocols, cost databases, and unit pricing to improve accuracy and efficiency across all Korpi Lawn and Landscape projects.

Mentorship: Mentor and train junior staff on proper estimating techniques, software usage, and project analysis, ensuring knowledge transfer within the department.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, Horticulture, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Experience: Minimum of 7 years of dedicated, senior-level landscape estimating experience, with a proven track record of successfully bidding and winning complex installation projects.

Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in industry-standard estimating software (e.g., LMN, Aspire, PlanSwift) and advanced skills in reading and interpreting complex CAD drawings and construction blueprints.

Knowledge: Deep understanding of landscape construction standards, plant material specifications, irrigation systems, grading principles, and hardscape material applications.

Personal Attributes: Impeccable attention to detail, strong time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple large bids simultaneously under tight deadlines.
