Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

A well-established and growing automation solutions provider is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team in LaVergne, TN. This full-time, first-shift role involves leading mechanical design projects from concept through commissioning. The company serves a range of industries, including automotive, medical, consumer goods, plastics, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical design efforts for custom automated machinery projects.

• Manage a small team of designers and mentor junior team members in SolidWorks and design best practices.

• Create detailed mechanical drawings, BOMs, timing charts, and other supporting documentation.

• Perform engineering calculations (load, deflection, tolerance stack-ups, etc.).

• Ensure compliance with internal design standards, OSHA/ANSI/customer requirements.

• Collaborate with controls engineers, vendors, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.

• Support machine commissioning and occasional travel for sales or installation support.

• Assist with quoting and concept development during the pre-sales process.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of mechanical machine design experience, preferably in automation or custom equipment.

• 10+ years of SolidWorks experience.

• Strong understanding of GD&T, materials, machining practices, and mechanical assemblies.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
