Join a visionary team shaping the future of industrial and commercial facilities!
Sansom Staffing is proud to partner with a leading firm in the facilities design industry seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic, multi-disciplinary team.

As a key member of the Facilities Design Group, you’ll play a critical role in engineering and designing HVAC, plumbing, and utility piping systems—including compressed air, nitrogen, and vacuum systems—for innovative commercial and industrial environments. You’ll collaborate closely with experts across Architectural, Structural, Electrical, Fire Protection, and Security disciplines to bring complex projects to life.

Note: This position focuses on building systems design, not product or machine design. Candidates must have construction project experience.

    What You’ll Do

    • Lead and perform heating and cooling load analyses to optimize system efficiency.

    • Review Test & Balance reports to verify proper air balance and room pressurization.

    • Design mechanical spaces and select equipment—including AHUs, FCUs, exhaust fans, and extraction arms.

    • Create plumbing plans and riser diagrams, and produce detailed mechanical drawings, schedules, and specifications.

    • Develop construction documentation and provide accurate input for project scopes, proposals, and budgets.

    • Attend on-site client and coordination meetings, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication.

    • Conduct field investigations to document existing conditions and update drawings.

    • Partner with contractors to troubleshoot and resolve design or installation challenges in real time.

    What You Bring

    • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)

    • 5+ years of experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for commercial or industrial buildings

    • E.I.T. certification or intent to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure

    • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit

    • A passion for problem-solving, teamwork, and turning complex engineering challenges into creative, buildable solutions

    Why You’ll Love It Here

    • Work alongside industry-leading professionals on cutting-edge facility design projects.

    • Be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment that values innovation and technical excellence.

    • Enjoy opportunities for career growth, mentorship, and professional development.
