Senior Network Engineer | Financial Services Trading Platform | Chicago

Transform Global Financial Infrastructure With a Leading Trading Platform

Are you a network engineer who thrives on complexity and wants to make an immediate impact? We're looking for a seasoned network professional to architect and maintain the critical infrastructure that powers high-stakes financial trading across the Americas.

    Why This Role Stands Out

True Technical Ownership: This isn't a ticket-taking position. You'll own infrastructure decisions, drive projects from conception to completion, and see the direct impact of your work on global trading operations.

Break Out of the Silo: Forget being pigeonholed into a single technology stack. You'll work across Juniper, Cisco, Arista, Checkpoint, and Palo Alto environments—building the kind of multi-vendor expertise that defines elite network engineers in financial services.

Clear Growth Trajectory: We're committed to developing senior engineers into technical leaders. As you master our complex global network, you'll naturally progress into architecture and strategic infrastructure projects that shape our platform's future.

Financial Services Scale: Support trading operations where network performance directly impacts P&L. This is infrastructure that matters, with the compensation and recognition to match.

    What You'll Build and Own

    • Design and deploy network infrastructure for a multi-region financial trading environment spanning North and South America
    • Architect and maintain high-availability routing and switching for latency-sensitive trading applications
    • Engineer and troubleshoot complex BGP, OSPF, and MPLS implementations in a mission-critical environment
    • Partner directly with trading desks, developers, and vendors to translate business requirements into robust network solutions
    • Provide expert-level network support (L1-L4) with participation in on-call rotation
    • Occasional datacenter work (racking, hardware maintenance) to stay close to the infrastructure
    • International travel (approximately 2 weeks annually) to our Canada, Mexico, Chile, and Brazil locations

    What You Bring

    Core Expertise (Required)

    • 6+ years of enterprise network engineering experience, ideally in financial services, fintech, or high-frequency trading environments
    • Command-line mastery of Juniper (JunOS) routers, switches, and firewalls—this is our primary platform
    • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco and Arista switching environments
    • Production firewall experience: Checkpoint, Juniper SRX, or Palo Alto
    • Deep protocol knowledge: BGP (essential), OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, multicast (PIM)
    • Layer 2 expertise: spanning-tree variants, 802.1q, VPC/MLAG, LACP
    • Traffic engineering and QoS implementation experience
    • VPN technologies: site-to-site, remote access, and encrypted transport
    • Packet analysis proficiency (Wireshark, tcpdump)
    • Network monitoring platforms (PRTG, Nagios, or similar)
    • Visio or equivalent for documentation
    • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to Chicago-area datacenters

    Communication & Collaboration

    • Clear technical communication—you'll interface with traders, developers, and C-level executives
    • Strong analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail
    • Self-starter who takes ownership and drives issues to resolution
    • Stays composed during market-hours incidents and high-pressure situations

    What Makes You Stand Out

    • Spanish fluency (strongly preferred)—critical for supporting our Latin American operations
    • Network automation experience: Ansible, Python, or other infrastructure-as-code tools
    • Fintech/financial services background: You understand that in trading, milliseconds matter
    • Prior experience in banking, capital markets, or high-frequency trading environments

    Location & Travel

    • Based in Chicago with regular travel to area datacenters
    • International travel (approximately 2 weeks per year) to support our Americas operations
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States
