Job Summary
Heritage MEP is hiring a Senior Payroll Specialist to support payroll, prevailing wage compliance, and certified payroll reporting across a growing group of mechanical services companies.
This is a hands-on role for someone who knows payroll inside and out, is strong in Excel, and can keep large amounts of payroll data accurate across multiple systems. You will help ensure employees are paid correctly and on time, certified payroll reports are completed accurately, and payroll data ties cleanly into accounting and job costing.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in construction, mechanical, contracting, or field services who is comfortable working in a fast-moving, detail-heavy environment.
What You’ll Do
Process weekly and biweekly payroll across multiple operating companies
Review hours, pay rates, overtime, deductions, and job allocations for accuracy
Manage prevailing wage payroll compliance, including classifications and fringe calculations
Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for government-funded projects
Maintain supporting documentation for audits and compliance reporting
Use Excel to reconcile payroll data, identify discrepancies, and prepare uploads/corrections
Prepare CSV files for system imports, bulk updates, and payroll adjustments
Assist with payroll journal entries and payroll-related reconciliations
Help ensure payroll costs are properly recorded by job and department
Partner with HR, accounting, and operations teams across the platform
Support payroll process improvements and standardization as the business grows
What We’re Looking For
4+ years of payroll experience in construction, mechanical, contracting, or field services
Direct experience with prevailing wage payroll and certified payroll reporting
Experience with LCPtracker or a similar certified payroll platform
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliations, and large data sets
Experience working with payroll data across multiple systems
Strong attention to detail and compliance discipline
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Sage Intacct
Experience with ServiceTitan, BuildOps, or similar systems
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
Experience in a multi-entity environment
Experience supporting payroll during acquisitions or system changes
