    Senior Platform Engineer

    Location: San Francisco, CA
    Work Style: On-site
    Employment Type: Full-time
Compensation: $180K–$240K base salary + equity
Focus: Platform Engineering, AWS Infrastructure, Developer Experience, AI Coding Agents, Healthcare AI

    About Our Client

Our client is building an AI-native healthcare platform that gives people free, private access to AI health guidance and affordable visits with human physicians.

Their production systems already support millions of consultations, and the company is scaling quickly across AI, healthcare delivery, patient experience, and clinical operations. The team is building in a high-stakes environment where reliability, privacy, security, and patient safety matter deeply.

This is an opportunity to join a senior engineering team building the infrastructure behind one of the fastest-growing AI healthcare platforms in the market.

    About the Role

Our client is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to improve the systems engineers use to build, deploy, observe, and operate production software.

This role owns engineering enablement across the company. You’ll build the environments, tools, workflows, infrastructure, and standards that help engineers — and coding agents — understand the codebase, make changes, validate work, and ship safely.

This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys platform engineering, developer experience, infrastructure automation, observability, and building systems that make engineering teams faster without sacrificing safety or reliability.

    What You’ll Do

    • Improve the reliability and operation of production services running on AWS ECS

    • Build shared infrastructure, service templates, and delivery workflows that reduce time from code to production

    • Improve local development, CI, testing, and deployment workflows

    • Build self-service tools so engineers can complete routine platform tasks without direct support

    • Create agent-ready repositories, documentation, and interfaces that help coding agents complete useful tasks with less supervision

    • Automate recurring work across service setup, dependency changes, release checks, and incident triage

    • Build guardrails and feedback loops that make AI-generated code changes easier to validate and safer to ship

    • Improve logs, metrics, alerts, dashboards, and service health visibility for engineering teams

    • Define practical standards for incident response, recovery, capacity planning, and service reliability

    • Build security, privacy, and compliance controls into infrastructure and delivery workflows

    • Track infrastructure cost and improve efficiency as traffic, data, and AI workloads grow

    • Partner with product, AI, data, and security engineers to solve production problems

    What We’re Looking For

    • 5+ years of relevant platform, infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or backend engineering experience

    • Experience building and operating production systems on AWS

    • Strong knowledge of containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, networking, and observability

    • Experience with container orchestration and automated delivery workflows

    • Experience improving developer environments, CI performance, service templates, or internal engineering tools

    • Ability to write software and automation rather than relying on manual procedures

    • Daily experience with coding agents or AI-assisted development tools

    • Evidence of building tools, context, documentation, or workflows that make coding agents more reliable

    • Experience measuring or improving engineering throughput, CI time, test quality, or self-service adoption

    • Experience diagnosing production incidents and driving follow-up improvements

    • Strong judgment across reliability, security, cost, and delivery speed

    • Clear communication skills across engineering teams

    Technical Environment

    Relevant technologies include:

    • AWS

    • ECS and ECR

    • Terraform and Terragrunt

    • GitHub Actions

    • CloudWatch

    • RDS

    • DocumentDB

    • Redis

    • S3

    • CloudFront

    • Application Load Balancers

    • IAM

    • Secrets Manager

    • Python

    • Shell scripting

    Bonus Experience

    • Experience with AI infrastructure or AI-native engineering workflows

    • Experience building platform systems in healthcare, fintech, or another regulated industry

    • Experience with disaster recovery, high-traffic applications, or mission-critical infrastructure

    • Experience improving coding-agent workflows, repository context, validation loops, or automated code review systems

    • Experience building developer platforms for small, senior engineering teams

    Why This Opportunity

    • Join a fast-growing AI healthcare company supporting millions of consultations

    • Build platform infrastructure where reliability, privacy, and patient safety matter

    • Own engineering enablement across a small, senior technical team

    • Improve how both engineers and coding agents build, validate, and ship software

    • Work across AWS infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, automation, security, and developer experience

    • Help define practical platform standards as the company scales

    • Step into a high-ownership role with meaningful impact on engineering speed and production reliability

    Benefits

    • $180K–$240K base salary

    • Meaningful equity

    • Benefits reimbursement

    • Opportunity to build mission-critical systems in healthcare AI

    Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a senior platform engineer who loves building infrastructure that makes engineering teams faster, safer, and more independent.

They have strong AWS and container fundamentals, care deeply about reliability and developer experience, and are excited by the opportunity to build workflows that help coding agents contribute more effectively to production software.

This person should be comfortable in a high-autonomy environment where application teams own what they ship and platform engineering makes that ownership easier.
