    Senior Process Mechanical Engineer – Water/Wastewater
    Location: Greenville, SC | Full-Time | Hybrid Option Available

    We’re partnering with a nationally recognized engineering firm seeking a Senior Process Mechanical Engineer to join their Water Design Center in Greenville, South Carolina. This is a high-impact leadership role on a multi-disciplinary team focused on designing complex, large-scale water and wastewater treatment facilities.

    The ideal candidate will bring deep technical experience, a strong background in process mechanical design, and a desire to guide projects from conceptual design through construction. You’ll play a critical role in shaping facility layouts, leading design efforts, mentoring junior staff, and participating in client meetings and industry events.

    Role Overview:

    As a Senior Process Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as a Design Phase Manager, overseeing the technical design and team coordination across multiple high-volume, customized treatment plant projects. You will manage schedules, budgets, and quality deliverables while serving as a subject matter expert in both internal and client-facing capacities.

    This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge 3D/4D BIM software alongside a collaborative in-house team of engineers, designers, and specialists focused on delivering efficient, high-quality infrastructure.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead process mechanical design for water and wastewater treatment systems

    • Develop design criteria through analysis and modeling of water/wastewater processes

    • Perform hydraulic analysis, pump selection, and sizing for treatment facilities

    • Design mechanical systems including blowers, chemical storage/feed systems, and piping

    • Produce specifications, contract documents, and instrumentation drawings

    • Oversee the development of construction documents and 3D models

    • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and I&C disciplines

    • Serve as a technical lead in client meetings and industry conferences

    • Provide construction support and resolve technical issues in the field

    • Mentor and support junior engineers and designers

    • Ensure adherence to quality control processes and internal standards

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, Biosystems, or Agricultural Engineering (ABET accredited)

    • 10+ years of engineering consulting experience focused on water/wastewater projects

    • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure

    • Proven experience managing design projects from planning through delivery

    • Strong collaboration and communication skills

    • Familiarity with P&ID development, mechanical layout, and process evaluation

    Preferred:

    • Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline

    • Experience with lift stations, booster pump stations, and chemical feed systems

    • Hands-on knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and MS Project

    • Background working within highly integrated multi-disciplinary project teams

    • Involvement in local or national professional engineering organizations
