    Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Architect to lead and execute a diverse portfolio of projects. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded architectural professional who combines strong design capability with technical expertise, project leadership, and client-facing communication skills. In this role, you will manage projects from initial concept through construction administration, coordinate multidisciplinary consultants, mentor junior staff, and ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with applicable codes.

    Location & Schedule Notice: This is a full-time, in-office position at our office in Orland Park, IL. Candidates must reside within daily commuting distance.

    Key Responsibilities

    Project Leadership: Direct architectural design through all phases—from programming and schematic design to construction documentation and administration.

    Multi-Project Operations: Manage multiple projects simultaneously across varying scales and complexities while participating in project budgeting, scheduling, and staffing.

    Client & Stakeholder Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, owners, and stakeholders to foster strong relationships and support business development efforts.

    Consultant & Contractor Coordination: Work closely with consultants (MEP, structural, civil, landscape, specialty vendors) and collaborate directly with contractors during field observations and site visits.

    Technical Oversight & Permitting: Oversee code analysis, life safety plans, and jurisdictional permitting processes. Develop detailed construction documents and technical specifications.

    Construction Administration: Review shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders to resolve construction issues efficiently.

    Mentorship & Quality Control: Guide junior architects and designers while upholding firm design and technical standards.

    Required Qualifications

    Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture (NAAB-accredited preferred).

    Experience: 10–20 years of professional architectural experience with proven hands-on project management from concept to completion.

    Licensure: Licensed Architect (RA) or on an active track to obtain licensure.

    Code & Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of building codes (IBC, ADA, local jurisdictions) and expertise in construction documentation/detailing.

    Communication & Leadership: Excellent organizational, client management, and team leadership skills.

    Location: Must live within commuting distance of Orland Park, IL for daily in-office collaboration.

    Technical Proficiency

    Revit: High proficiency required

    AutoCAD: Proficient

    Office & Detailing Tools: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), specifications writing, and permitting/jurisdictional approval processes

    Preferred Software Experience: SketchUp, Photoshop, Lumion, Bluebeam, or Adobe Creative Suite

    Preferred Experience

    Designing veterinary clinics, animal hospitals, or medical facilities

    Multi-family housing project leadership

    Client management and business development exposure

    Construction administration and field observation

    Sustainable design practices (LEED or similar certifications a plus)
