Senior Project Engineer – San Diego, CA

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will collaborate with experts across multiple disciplines, serving clients on landmark projects that shape communities and bring visions to life.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) required.
California Professional Civil Engineer (PE) registration.
Minimum of 15 years of directly relevant experience, or equivalent experience of 18 years in the industry.
Local San Diego County and California project experience preferred.
Strong ability to develop and maintain positive business relationships, generate new work, and promote engineering services.
Active involvement in community and professional organizations.
Candidate Requirements:
Independent thinker with strong decision-making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Minimum of 5 years management experience supervising technical staff.
Exceptional customer service and client relationship skills.
Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, and team-oriented capabilities.
Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients, public agencies, and internal teams.
Managerial Responsibilities:
Oversee construction bid documents and contracts.
Coordinate construction support and field activities.
Manage project schedules and budgets.
Prepare contracts, fee proposals, and scopes of work for private land development and public works projects.
Engage with clients and public agencies to facilitate project execution.
Technical Responsibilities:
Perform conceptual and preliminary engineering design studies, incorporating land use, zoning, site constraints, infrastructure requirements, and regulatory considerations.
Prepare and process regulatory and public improvement plans (private offsite and public works projects).
Conduct constructability reviews and provide construction support services.
Apply knowledge of jurisdictional codes, standards, and procedures in California, with a focus on the San Diego region.
Additional Skills and Expertise:
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Strong understanding of engineering principles and project design procedures.
Knowledge of strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and personnel coordination.
Ability to guide the design team, set goals, and manage projects independently.
Skilled negotiator with a high level of leadership, management, and time management abilities.
Experience mentoring and training junior engineers and designers.
Exceptional competence in written and oral communication.
Ability to leverage CAD tools for exhibits, studies, and final project plans.
