We are seeking a Senior Project Manager - Contract to join the Revenue Cycle Services (RCS) division at a leading healthcare system. This 12-month contract role with a potential 6-12 month extension offers the opportunity to lead and standardize large-scale operational improvement projects focused on patient experience.
The Senior Project Manager - Contract will serve as an operational lead standardizing workflows that enhance patient experience. The ideal candidate brings a unique balance of emotional intelligence, project management expertise, and the ability to lead change across a diverse group of stakeholders.
This position is hybrid with regular on-site presence required 3-4 days per week in the early months of the project. Some travel to locations up to 2 hours away is possible, therefore, candidates must currently reside in the Indianapolis, IN area.

Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage complex, confidential RCS projects using industry-recognized methodologies (Agile, Hybrid, Waterfall) aligned with PMI.org standards.
- Apply emotional intelligence to understand group dynamics, identify key influencers, and foster alignment among regional experts including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, clinicians, and executive leaders.
- Act as the voice of reason when navigating differing opinions from subject matter experts, ensuring forward momentum with clarity and diplomacy.
- Lead organizational change management efforts and facilitate rapid improvement events to achieve operational excellence.
- Use critical thinking to develop and implement effective, scalable solutions that drive measurable outcomes—beyond task completion.
- Coordinate with RCS leadership to assess issues, develop project documentation, and deliver timely, quality results.
- Maintain full oversight of assigned projects, ensuring confidentiality, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional alignment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive project management experience, preferably in healthcare.
- Strong working knowledge of PMI methodologies; PMP certification preferred.
- Experience managing projects using Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall approaches.
- Skilled in influencing and motivating interdisciplinary teams in fast-paced, complex environments.
- Background in Lean or Six Sigma performance improvement initiatives preferred.
- Proven ability to navigate organizational resistance and lead change at all levels.
- Strong facilitation, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Excellent judgment, professionalism, and discretion when managing confidential matters.
- Ability to build trusted relationships across departments and promote a collaborative team culture.
