Position Overview
A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking a Senior Project Manager to provide overall leadership and strategic direction for complex construction projects. This role is responsible for contract negotiation support, financial oversight, client satisfaction, and ensuring the overall fiscal and operational success of assigned projects. The Senior Project Manager serves as a key leader and mentor within the project team and organization.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership in business judgment and oversee all financial, budgetary, and profitability aspects of assigned construction projects
Participate in project acquisition efforts, including defining project scope, risks, and budgets to achieve profitability objectives
Develop and manage project budgets while accounting for project-specific challenges and opportunities
Establish project milestones, recruit qualified staff, and assign personnel appropriate to project scope and complexity
Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, clients, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
Provide high-level oversight of projects from startup through closeout to ensure schedule, budget, quality, and profitability goals are met or exceeded
Oversee project performance including costs, schedules, risk management, and resolution of unexpected events
Ensure smooth transition of project responsibilities from preconstruction to operations teams once field work begins
Mentor, train, and coach project staff to meet or exceed company performance standards
Represent the organization with owners, architects, consultants, government authorities, vendors, and subcontractors
Project Acquisition & Preconstruction
Understand owner requirements and project objectives to align company capabilities with client needs
Evaluate project risks and unique challenges that may impact budget and profitability objectives
Assign appropriate project management staff and approve pre-mobilization activities
Ensure effective turnover meetings occur between preconstruction and operations teams
Project Management, Quality & Closeout
Ensure assigned projects meet or exceed budget and profitability objectives
Monitor and evaluate Project Manager and Superintendent performance and staffing assignments
Accurately forecast project performance and financial outcomes
Maintain regular visibility on job sites to monitor schedule, expenditures, performance, and risk
Provide leadership and creative problem-solving to bring projects in on schedule and within budget
Oversee quality control and successful project closeout activities
Client Relationships & Meeting Management
Attend required internal and external meetings to monitor project progress and profitability
Maintain consistent client communication to gauge satisfaction and address concerns proactively
Ensure project management staff are properly trained and aligned with company standards
Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop high-performing project teams
Supervisory Responsibilities

MEP Coordinator
Project General Superintendent
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
Minimum of ten (10) years of construction management experience
Demonstrated experience managing complex projects varying in size, scope, and sector
Proven leadership experience overseeing multi-disciplinary project teams
