    Job Overview:

We’re seeking an engineer to design, validate, and transition custom sensing and communication hardware into production for demanding real-world environments. This role operates in a collaborative, fast-paced setting, with ownership spanning from concept through deployment. Reporting to senior technical leadership, this individual will contribute across research, prototyping, refinement, and testing while guiding hardware architecture decisions, overseeing schematic development, component selection, and PCB layout execution. They will build and evaluate prototypes using standard lab workflows, integrate commercial communication modules, and coordinate hardware, firmware, and power subsystems to ensure robustness and reliable connectivity. Responsibilities also include maintaining design documentation, supporting manufacturing partners through production readiness and compliance, mentoring team members, and participating directly in validation efforts, field trials, and stakeholder demonstrations.

    Experience Requirements:

    • At minimum of 10 years of experience working with complex electronic systems, particularly involving high-frequency or mixed-signal architectures
    • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance
    • Proven success taking electronic systems from concept through production, including initial board bring-up, debugging, and field validation
    • Extensive experience in multi-layer PCB development, schematic ownership, and component selection using industry-standard ECAD platforms (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or equivalent)
    • Proficiency in RF or mixed-signal modeling, simulation, and optimization using tools such as ADS, HFSS, CST, or comparable platforms
    • Hands-on familiarity with RF and electronic test instrumentation, including spectrum/network analyzers, signal generators, and similar equipment
    • Deep understanding of signal behavior and system-level integrity, including matching, filtering, noise mitigation, modulation techniques, and EMI/EMC considerations
    • Experience implementing wired and wireless communication protocols across serial, short-range, and cellular links (e.g., UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, Ethernet, BLE, NFC, Wi-Fi, ZigBee, 4G/5G)
    • Comfortable coordinating across hardware, firmware, and networking layers, with working knowledge of embedded Linux environments and scripting or firmware-level programming (e.g., C/C++, Python, or Bash)
    • Familiarity with version control and structured collaboration workflows within engineering toolchains (e.g., Git, SVN, JIRA, Confluence, or similar platforms)

    Experience Preferences:

    • Exposure to satellite-based positioning technologies, short- and long-range wireless protocols, or custom high-frequency communication platforms (e.g., GNSS, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, radar, or equivalent systems)
    • Familiarity with embedded compute environments, including programmable logic interfaces or digital signal pathways (e.g., FPGA, baseband, etc.)
    • Understanding of certification and compliance frameworks such as FCC / CE / ETSI and practical experience designing for electromagnetic compatibility and emissions control
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical challenges with precision and creativity
    • Hands-on experience with initial power-on and validation of newly fabricated circuit assemblies
    • Strong communication habits with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary technical and non-technical teams
    • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, low-oversight environments where documentation, repeatable workflows, and continuous iteration are part of the build process
    • Awareness of defense-oriented training ecosystems or simulation-based operational formats is a plus
    • Capable of producing clear engineering records or technical documentation when needed
    • Proficient in standard productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office or similar)

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to travel required (typically one week every two months). Trips to include testing of developed products in operating environment and new client development/planning on location

    Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
