    Job Title: Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator Consultant Location: Hybrid – 189 Harry S Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401

    Agency: Maryland Judiciary Information Systems Work Schedule: Monday–Friday (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)

    Position Overview: The Maryland Judiciary is seeking a highly experienced Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator Consultant to support its infrastructure operations. The selected candidate will be responsible for the administration, optimization, and support of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems and related technologies in a hybrid work environment. This role requires deep technical expertise in Linux system administration, automation, and enterprise support tools.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (as determined by the AOC).

    Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) certification.

    Certification must be valid and verifiable with a certification number issued by Red Hat.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    10+ years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator.

    10+ years of experience administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.

    15+ years of experience in the Information Technology field.

    Scope of Work: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Installing, configuring, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across development, testing, and production environments.

    Performing system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening.

    Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues.

    Automating system administration tasks using Ansible, Bash, or Python.

    Administering Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and other RHEL ecosystem tools.

    Collaborating with security teams to ensure compliance.

    Maintaining storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.

    Supporting application teams with best practices for Linux-based deployments.

    Documenting system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

    Participating in on-call support and incident response.

    Configuring Network File Server (NFS) and mount points.

    Setting up and managing system and application cron jobs.

    Skills, Experience, and Capabilities: Preferred experience with:

    Working in complex networked system environments.

    Administering IBM AIX on pSeries systems.

    Managing systems running:

    Oracle WebLogic, Oracle DB, Progress 4GL/OpenEdge

    Apache Web Servers, vSphere-hosted RHEL

    Rubrik backup systems, Oracle OBI, Elastic Search, CVS

    PeopleSoft, Mobius

    Red Hat performance tuning and support.

    Load balancing, partitioning, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery.

    24/7 system availability environments.

    Application development support and electronic imaging systems.

    Key Competencies:

    Leadership capabilities and initiative.

    Experience providing user support and Helpdesk interaction.

    Proficiency in troubleshooting at the OS, database, and application levels.

    Expert knowledge in Red Hat system configuration and tuning.

    Place of Performance:

    Hybrid Work Schedule:

    2 days remote (must be from a professional, quiet setting).

    3 days on-site at Maryland Judiciary Information Systems, 189 Harry S Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401.

    On-Site Support Requirement:

    Candidate must be able to report on-site within 24 hours upon request by the Chief Technology Officer.
